They will also be recognizing my TN permit. That is another state I can carry in. I love the TN map...

New Mexico?

Their CCW law is little more than useless.

Subject to their law, one may not carry anywhere alcohol is sold. Every convenience store, gas station, grocery store, drug store and whatever is off limits 'cuz they all sell alcohol. I travel through NM several times a year and I'm supposed to disarm to pay for fuel, pick up a few things at Walmart or get some groceries? It's a felony, no less.

Prior to the NM CCW law one could carry a weapon in one's car, carry a weapon outside city limits and carry openly subject only to minor LEO harrassment. The only thing the CCW law accomplished was concealed carry inside city limits with a license except, of course, for all the places selling alcohol for off site consumption. Great progress, eh?

One can still carry just like before, the CCW parts were tacked on.

And if you get any trouble from any law enforcement about it, inform them that taking your firearms without any charges or even a hand receipt is armed robbery on their part.

At least one lawyer I know would not mind going to court for a big lawsuit over that...

As for the alcohol part, that really needs to change, but I am not sure what will have to happen first.

Any of you have a few hundred thousand to spare to fund a "study"?;)

I bet that would get the necessary changes passed through.:banghead:

Baby steps and incrementalism beat rigid idealism every time in politics.

Use the Alaska model and keep on your pro-carry reps to introduce new loosening legislation each year. Look where we're at versus where we were.

This is something I wish more freedom-minded (especially the do-or-die Libertarian party) organizations would figure out. Baby steps is how they kill us; baby steps is how we win.

Hmmm, now I have to go watch "What About Bob?".

Permits/licenses that this state honors:

No matching states.

Not even Arizona. Oh well, guess I'll still have to open carry when I go thru NM.

New Mexico will recognize licenses issued by 20 other states, they are: Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and Wyoming.

I doubt packing.org will update the map until Nov 30 when this takes affect so that they don't confuse anyone.

For those who do not get the inside joke, I was not kidding about the money.

This state could have Vermont and Alaska carry right now with the proper application of funds...;)

Yes, our legislature really does work that way.

Was there not a CCW shooting in NM several months ago? A guy in the deli section of a Walmart with a knife (domestic dispute outside the domicile)...the CCW was from out of state.

Does that store sell alcohol?

Ruidoso here I come.
