Today i finally payed off the gun I had on layaway, it is a beautiful M38 all the numbers match from 1943, the stock looks like it was refinished but i dont mind its an amazing looking rifle only paid 165 for it, I will post pics tomorrow :)

m38 pretty rare arent they?
 
yes and no. There is about 20 million of them, proly most of them in this country alone. Most are had for about 100 bucks. usually a rarer type model than usual goes for more money, or if it is an all made in russia matching numbers with a laminate stock are a bit more. and then it also depends or markings and where made.
they are just now starting to dry up , and are getting harder to find.
Even at Houston area gunshows, I am not seeing 38's, but some 44's, and
mostly 91/30's.

here are some pictures of it, today i took it completely apart and everything looks amazing on this rifle, the barrel is very nice who ever owned this before me took great care of it

that stock looks finnish colored like their m39,i love my 91/30 peeling shellac and all,your rifle looks great,i wonder if its stained or blo/tung?i might try to make mine look like that..
