I bought a Mustang Series 80 all steel, Nickle, for $300 today. Never saw one before in this config.. It's in 95% shape no box or papers. Being a series 80 ASSumed a firing pin block, ala series 80 1911's. Not so, with the gun C&L I can push in the FP. Kind of a disapointment but I wanted it anyway. Blue book says they made em '87 - and on in this config., all steel, nickle plated.

It looks factory. My Blue book says they were made in nickle in '87. Gunshop guy confirmed with another reference book. Picture I attached doesn't do it justice.
 
A quick call to Colt will get you the straight dope.:) Congrats on your purchase.
 
My newly acquired colt mustang at the shop being dehorned and parkerized so I can't check this myself but if my memory serves correctly, you can push the firing pin in SOME with the pistol cocked but it won't travel past the bolt face. Might try the pencil test. Everything I have read about these bad boys says that they have the Firing Pin block. Could yours have been removed? I'd be interested knowing if it has been, though I plan on keeping mine.

I've never heard of a recall on these. Mine is a shooter with 400rds fired and not a single hitch. It's very accurate.
 
Great deal!!! I bought mine about 2 years ago, it was a Colt Pony, at a shop that didn't know the price increase of them, for $300 too, with 3 extra mags!!! If you plan to carry it, there are some good pocket holsters out there, I like the Headley the best. Isn't great that some of these gun shops look in gun price books that are 2 or 3 years old!!! We got to find bargains sometimes......
 
Hey popeye!

I have the little clip. It's brand new, still in the package. I bought it for my Mark IV Gov't. When I got ready to put it in, I found out there was one already installed. I don't need it. If you PM me your address, I will send it to you. Whadda deal.:D
