New Optic Sight

I will soon be putting a Vortex sight on my STI Trojan 6" .45 ACP. Is this going to affect the slide operation? I will be removing some weight taking off the stock rear sight but probably adding a bit more than that with mount and site itself.

I have no explicit experience with them. However a freind just bought the Venom. Extraordinarily small and light in my opinion. Nearly perfect. The sights are used all over. I foresee no unpleasant issue for you. Although I am waiting to put one on my Eagle. I would like a red dot for it, but don't want to wear it in my forehead when /if recoil auto - disassembles it. I am still looking for recoil stories for research.
It isn't the same gun but on his xdm it runs exactly the same.

Thanks for your reply. My biggest concern was the weight of the sight and mount slowing the slide causing failure to ejects or other problems.

It's unlikely that the weight will cause any issues.

If it does, a simple change of recoil spring weights should resolve the issue.

I have put a slide mounted red dot on a 1911 before, and had no issues.
