New Orleans, gas prices and immigration

securing the border is not even on their radar. business has got to have that cheap exploitable labor to do the jobs that can't be out-sourced.

Cost of Congress' and Bush's Medicare Drug Prescription Program $400 billion.

That is one Hurricane Katrina every quarter for a year. Then you get four more Katrina's beginning next year.

The benefit of a hurricane is you get a clear image of the cost of federal spending. $400 billion is just a number. Four Katrina's in a year . . . . now that's a picture.

Yeah, but you still gotta go with the lowest bidder who will do a good job... I still say to go with a two mile DMZ at the border - and sell stamps to whoever shows up.

That's quite expensive.

How much does it cost to build to fences, 200 feet apart, per mile?

And how would it cost to mine that strip with antipersonell and AT mines?

I suspect less than .20 for one illegal immigrant.

However, much more effective would be to measure how much illegal immigrants from Mexico cost and then apply a tariff onto their goods until the US makes good on the cost, and gets a healthy cut.

The simplest solution is to bust US employers who hired illegal aliens. Do the perp walk, the works. Any illegal caught is summarily sent back south of the border. Keep Mexican immigrants in Mexico so that the social pressure will increase and their hard work can be directed toward something useful like conducting a freakin' revolution in Mexico. Open borders in the US is a pressure relief valve on Mexican society.

Reminds me of my anti-american plan... for all the American residents who complain about our country or do work against it, I say, treat them 3rd world or communist style. Take their family at gunpoint, blindfold, gag, whatever - drive them to the nearest fence/ocean and drop them off/over/in, and then sell their stuff to pay for the trip.

Either way, most of us rely way too heavily on gasoline... but is there any real good way around it? I really need to get myself a good bicycle just in case the Supra gasoholic needs to stay home...
