I am like a kid in a candy store, cant decide tell me wut you would do

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Got a bug and gonna buy another 1911, just lookin for a bit of advice from all of you. Here are the things I have found, let me know what sounds best or what you would do, I know it is all subjective.

1. Colt series 80 stainless used been customized a bit, extended slide stop, mag release and ambi safety, looks like a videckin trigger, beavertail and decent target sights, pretty nice trigger pull, tight slide fit no rattles, cons are would want to change the hammer, and the slide stop and safety $529.00

2. Kimber custom 2 in stainless pretty much stock but has coccobolo grips nice, tight good trigger pull $659.00

3. Springfield loaded stainless new $639.00

4. Dan Wesson Panther stainless new probably would change the sights dont dig the xpress sights $529.00

5. Dan wesson Seven Stainless , new, .40 cal has the adjustable target sights on it, prefer fixed sights $589.00

6. Colt stainless steel, new, all stock $559.00 (went to buy this one today but saw it was actually the old rollmark so decided to wait on it, anything better or worse bout the old rollmarks besides the look?)

As you can tell I am looking for something in stainless, I also currently have a Dan Wesson which I think is a great gun, just dont like to wear it 'cause its blued and would like to protect the finish and just shoot it at the range.

couple others I found which dont fit my criteria if anyone is interested

colt series 70 commander blued used $549.00

kimber custom 2 blued used $539.00

norinco unsure new or used (I dont care for em didnt pay much attention to it $379.00

Springfield loaded blued $529.00 or $539.00

I know its a long post, any thoughts are appreciated. Oh yeah, would like to keep the cost down which is why I was lookin used, that way I may still pick up a stripped AR receiver for a build in a month or two ;a

I lean toward the stock, unmodified stainless Colt. But I am unsure what you mean by "old rollmarkings."

The customized Colt may or may not be a good deal. It depends entirely on how competently the work was done. It is not inconceivable that you may have to spend an amount equivalent to the original customizing to make it right.

The Springfield "Loaded" gets honorable mention.

I would like to have that Commander if it is a Lightweight. ;)

James: The old rollmarks have big lettering that isn't as appealing to the smaller new rollmarks.

Adam: I usually prefer unmodified guns, only thing acceptable would be different grips since they're not difficult to put on and doesn't change the characteristics of the gun mechanical wise. Therefore of the pistols listed, my first choice would be the Kimber Stainless Custom II.

Have fun!

I, personally, would never buy a modified ("customized") handgun used. I've seen to many botched jobs.

My vote would be for the unmodified 1991A1--it may not be as pretty as the new rollmarked ones, but it works just as good, and that's a pretty good price. I have had two old rollmark 1991A1s--one early production and one late production--and both were faultless from day one.

If I were you, I'd take another look at that Norinco, they are one of the base guns besides Colt and Springfield that Wilson Arms will work on. Steel is awesome, and they make great carry pieces.
