I'm looking for a new pistol powder. I have HP-38 and HS-6. I really like both, but some of the fun of reloading is trying new powder and bullet combinations. I primarily shoot 115gr 9mm and 155gr 40. I also have .380, .38, .357 and other weights for the 9 and 40. I'm thinking about Blue Dot or Longshot, and want something that meters well in a LNL. I tried Unique but wasn't impressed. Your thoughts, comments or recommendations are welcome.

Power Pistol is nice, Tite group is also a good one for clean and lots of rounds for per lbs

My two favorite powders for several decades has been HS6 and Longshot for .38 spcl, 9mm, and 40 S&W. I couldn't tell how they meter, as I load exclusively on a single stage using a beam scale to weigh every charge. The only metering experience I have with HS6 and Longshot has been on a Mec. 600 Jr. and they both metered just fine in that powder drop. But so far as performance is conerned, nothing has produced as good of results for me.

But so far as the magnum wheel gun cartridges are concerned, H110 and 296 will both light your fire and will no doubt impress you, cause there is nothing currently available on the market that will do what 296 and H110 do. If you've never loaded with those, you'll be very surprised at the results. And be it known they are the same powder with different names.

I will buck the trend and say Win 231. I shoot a decent amount of 40 and 9 and use that powder for both, also for 380 and 38. Meters great out of my lee auto disk. No experience with the lnl powder measure system though.

+1 on Gamestalker's recommendation of H110 for the .357. It'll only be suitable for your .357 loads, but IMHO, it is The Full House powder for the .357. Mag primers and a firm crimp are required. 158gr bullet w/ a full charge will look and feel like a factory 44mag. Follow the direction on the powder bottle; 110 is not to be downloaded as much as other powders.

Your HP38 and HS6 are good powders for your other cal’s (except I don’t know anything about .380). If you purchase SP Mag primers for use with the H110, back off your HS6/9mm load a little and try working it back up with the mag primer. IMHO, HS6 works good w/ a mag primer.
