Whoo hoo! My PPK finally came in today :D and I've been dry firing the crap out of it w/snapcaps. Heavy trigger, but hopefully, it'll smooth out a bit. Is there a cleaning procedure for a NIB pistol? My other newbies always got fired right away, and I want to know besides cleaning the barrel, is there anything else I should do? I'm gonna shoot it tomorrow morning and I'm going to rattle 50 down thru it before I test my reloads for accuracy.

Field strip, wipe out the bore, look for anything that isn't right, and if you find a lot of dirty factory lube, grit, or metal shavings, clean and re-lube.

I also have one. Keep it lubed. Both the trigger, and slide. Break it in 200 rounds or so, and it will run like a Swiss Watch:) :)

There's a bunch of German ex-police PP's on the market, too. $260-$300.

Both Walther & Manurhin. I put 200 rounds through one last month- with nary a jam.

They're neat guns- fit my hand well. And a Hogue Handall rubber sleeve helps with "Walther PPK bite".

See CDNN for lots of exotic wood grips for these guys...

Holy flirking shnit!

I am about to order a new stainess PPK/s!!! It will be my second.

I treat every new istol as if it has been shot a million time and field strip it and get rid of all the factory lube and any metal shavings. Some companies are worse than others. My latest Ruger was pretty greasy. CZ oils their stuff up pretty well too. As for Walther, I remember it being the BEST fit and finish of any pistol i have had.......................and I have had a lot.....

I got mine (new) a few weeks back. Years ago, I had one made by Interarms. I loved the way it felt but it was not reliable and would bite you. I bought one of the new S&W ones and absolutely love it. Totally reliable and the frame was redesigned to eliminate "bite".

+1 on the fit and finish - it's like a Swiss watch. The DA trigger does smooth out after a while. I dry-fired mine a couple thousand times and have put about 500 rounds through it. The trigger is much better than when new, but will never be described as "silky".

The accuracy is exceptional for a pocket-sized gun.

It's good to hear good things about my PPK/s. It's the new Smith and Walther in 380 auto and I'm going to give it a workout in the AM.

Damn all of you! I want a PPK/S so bad. I have numerous Walthers but no PPK. It was a toss up between it and the S&W 642 W/laser grips I just bought this week but I needed a true pocket gun for the summer. PPK is next though! Enjoy!

Summer gun is the reason I got it. Shot it today, loaded 50 plinking/break-in rounds for it and it shot ALL OVER THE PLACE. No jams, though. I cleaned it at the range and had 3 sets of reloadsfor it, 102 gr Golden sabers, 95 gr Win FMJ, and 95 gr Magtech's. By the time I got to the last set, it seemed to settle down a bit. I just hate that break-in period. I chrono'ed everything, too.
It shoots about 9" high at 12 yds. I've gotta get a spare rear sight I can grind down a bit to bring the POI down, unless there's an aftermarket rear sight for it (I haven't found one yet) and the front sight seems to be integral to the slide. Anyone got a fix for this problem??
yea, the trigger sux, but there's a Wolff kit-maybe I can fiddle with it.

I have a interarms PPK/S I carry often. Its very accurate . The PPK,PPK/S pistols are known for their accuracy. Also have never seen one shot that high.
Have someone else shoot and then both of you shoot from a rest. If still this way ship back to factory. That is not normal for the PPK line.

The rear sight is a fraction of an inch shorter now. Just enought to take the finish off. Maybe it'll drop POI a little. I'll find out Monday.

I purchased my Interarms built .32acp SS PPK/s in 1998. It is an excellent little pistol and a joy to shoot. No problems in 8 years, it's a KEEPER! :)

bulbboy What problems are you having on reassembly Not much to do I admitt somtimes takes a couple tries to get slide to drop back in place. Other times it falls togather.

I have an Interarms Walther PPK/S. It was the second handgun I ever bought. I bought it around 18 years ago.

The double action trigger pull is the worst ever and is as bad today is it was back then. I'm surprised NYC hasn't adopted the PPK trigger for any guns they do allow !! :neener:

Accuracy is mediocre. And yes, it bites . . . even with the Pachmyer wraparound grips I added. A 44 magnum is easier to shoot all day!

And don't get me started on the caliber. I wouldn't want to be shot by a .380 but that said I would much rather have any larger caliber on my side if my life depended on it. BUT . . . I'll probably never sell it because hey . . . it's James Bond's gun, how could I??

I carried it for a while because the one great thing about it is the size. However, now that I bought a Kahr P9, you'll never catch me with the PPK for a CCW gun. The Kahr is fantastic. Second best trigger in all of my collection (1911 is first, of course), accurate as hell . . I can't get over how accurate this thing is! Light weight, a respectable caliber, great capacity for it's size, I can't say enough good about it.

Own a PPK for it's looks (best looking gun I own) and for the nostalgia, but these days there are far better carry choices (thank GOD!).

Awesome!

I shot the PPK again today, and it must've needed a bunch of rounds to loosen it up. Today, 95 gr Magtech reloads were shooting 1 1/4" @12 yds off a bench. Accuracy is great now. I must've jumped the gun (pun intended) with my initial judgement. I took a few thou off the rear sight and POI is Dead Center!

Told you they were accurate Just takes a little shooting and getting use to the pistol. Plusthey need a little breaking in. Mine likes Corbon for SD and Federal HS have worked good also

I have always wanted an original GERMAN PPK in .380 or .32. One made after the war, but not an Interarms. Blued, with wood grips.

For some reason, I just never run across them. I'm scared to think how much one will cost, when I do find it.
