Both good, but cannot compare to the Finn M39 when it come to accuracy.

I'm a big fan of Swiss, Swedish and Finnish rifles and have multiple examples of all three, including unissued examples of "B barrel" M39's and late 60's and 1970 M39's

The Finns are fine rifles and very accurate. But to say that neither the Swedish nor the Swiss can compare to the Finnish M39 when it comes to accuracy is...well, possibly overstating the case a bit.

I've fired thousands of rounds through all three and I wouldn't care to live on the difference in accuracy between the Swiss, the Swedish and the Finnish military rifles. ;)

Very nice. What do these K31 rifles tend to cost, on average? I've never seen one in person.
The first two that I bought, about 5 years ago, were $99 a piece at Big 5 on sale. Of course, they were not in as nice a shape as the private series, but the bores are amazing. Switzerland never used corrosive primers in their 7.5 x 55 cartridges.

K31's in average military condition (stocks a bit beat up, metal in good shape, bores in excellent shape) seem to go for around $300 now.

On a train in eastern Switzerland around '77, a Swiss lady told me that Swiss soldiers Had been in a battle with the German Wehrmacht in '40, maybe '41 or so.
She used either the word Schlacht or Kampf, but she did use the word Panzer (tanks) being involved. The chat was in German.
I've never read about a battle in the flatter parts of the eastern area, but who knows?

If so, a few of the guns in the US could have been used in that battle.

I never knew that there were non military issue k31's. I have a k31 with a beat to hell beachwood stock. The blueing is excellent though and is by far my favorite rifle to shoot.

Thanks for the info. I have a K-11 that, according to serial number records, was in the last few hundred ever built.

These K's are a well engineered rifle considering they are military issue. The Swiss worked on a "sniper" version, starting with the K31 action during WWII

Post war the Swiss continued to refine the "sniper" variant. By the mid 50's they had developed the ZFK55 variant of the K31. The ZFK shares a few parts with the K31 but most are not interchangeable.

Adding aftermarket components from Swiss Products well build a reasonable clone of the sniper.

That's just fantastic.

Now I have to go shoot my K31. At least I have a battle pack I already unsealed. :D

Nice rifles, cratebuilder.

I bought some sported Swiss rifles a few years back, including a K31 that looks like someone started out to make a faux ZFK 55 with. One of these days I need to complete it with the SP accessories.

I put mine to work for a while today. I was sighting in a scoped AR upper, and then practicing with my .243 hunting rifle and .22 target rifle with their scopes. It was honestly a relief to just lay on the ground with a simple rifle, put the front sight post on the steel, squeeze that sweet trigger, and hear the distant smack.

Did have to wear my shoulder pad, though. :D Can't shoot but a couple of rounds through it without the Pachmayr.

If you decide you'd rather restore it with a complete stock, Swiss Products may have take-off stocks or can hook you up. There's a fella called "Guisan" on the Gun & Game board, I believe he's in Holland, and I "think" he's the patriarc of the Swiss Products company, or at least related somehow. I just know that not long ago he posted on gun & Game that he'd come across a large quantity of nice K31 stock sets. He seems to run across lots of stuff like that.

General Henri Guisan was elected Supreme Commander of the Swiss armed forces by the Federal Assembly in 1939, after the fall of France. His strategy of no surrender and total resistance is credited with deterring the Nazis from attempting an invasion.
I have done business with the gentleman who goes by the forum name 'Guisan' several times, he locates various items both in the civilian market and from the government auctions of surplus equipment. A great source of uncommon items like the bullet lubricator for recent manufacture GP-11. Swiss Products is an entirely US based operation that makes things like the several types of scope mounts for the K31 and SR 11 rifles.
