Thanks 918 and jimmyk... I believe you helped me solve this...I hope

I should've followed my gut on seating die adjustment..I knew better, but I followed the instructions.

After talking to chris at redding he told me to disregard the instructions and set the die as I have with all my other brands of dies, which is the same way you all described. I have the regular full length set and he said sometimes the stem doesn't jive with longer ogive bullets. He is sending me a stem that will cooperate better with this type of bullet. All at no charge. Now, I see why everybody raves about this company..

After work I purchased a cheap box of hornady interlocks and tries them in the die, setting it as I always have and the way explained on this thread. The bullet seated smoothly, though not as deep as I'd like, but it seated. I'll cross my fingers on this one and wait til next week.

I think once I get the new stem next week it should solve the problem. Thanks again for all the patience and feedback.

Chache ...Glad it is working better for you.

Sometimes the folks who write the directions for a product and the folks who design a product have different ideas about how the product works. They should get together and check the directions before printing them.

Farmer buck, I did measure the whole box...the average was .3085. That is close enough as far as I'm concerned as I'm sure only a couple threw the average off. Not a big deal, still a good product.

Jimmyk, I agree. I am a firm believer in rwading instructions, but if you don't trust your gut, it could get you in trouble...as it did for me. I'm being optimistic that the problem has been solved.

Chache ... The reason I said that about directions ...

I had called RCBS about the Uniflow powder measure and ask why the directions say to put the handle on one way and the photos on the directions showed the handle the opposite. Found out that who ever put the Uniflow together for the photo did not read the directions and just stuck the handle on ... just goes to show that the guys did not get together before they printed the directions or they would have seen the handle was backwards....
