Well I found my next purchase at the gun store the other day.

I didn't have the $$ to buy it but I know the owner so I put $75 on it and will pay the other $400 when I have it. No interest or anything like that.

It is an old style (not elite) blued python. It has target grips adjustable sights and an six inch bbl. The gun locks up tight and is in really good shape. I think that I got a fairly good deal on it. Hopefully soon I can compare it to my 6in 686 to put my own two cents in on the other thread.

ENC, go over to gunbroker.com and do a search for Python auctions that ended in the last 90 days. You'll be even happier about your purchase when you see the going prices!

I thought it was a good deal. The owner said that it has been on the shelf for about a month. Guess that is the benefit of small town gun shops.

I have another python with the short (2 in?). I bought it about 3 years ago for $600. The catch on that one is that it is unfired. I am not going to start shooting it anytime soon.

This one is a shooter.

Thanks everyone I'll let you know more when I finally shoot it.

Gracious!

$475 for a classic Python in good shape.

$600 for an unfired Python.

Why didn't my parents stock up on Pythons when they lived in Edmond?
I could have bought their "extras" from them by now!

Well I picked it up the other day. I knew I was going to be shooting clays later that day so the new python tagged along. I can definetly say that this is the most accurate handgun that I own. Everytime I shot it there were six dead clay targets. I need to go to the range to see just how accurate it is.

The large wooden grips on it really hurt my hand when I shot it so I will probably be shopping for some smooth wood grips to go on it for shooting.

The only thing about it that I did not notice in the shop is that there is a trigger stop screw through the trigger. This has caused the blue to be worn away on the inside of the trigger guard. Other than that the finish is flawless.

I am very happy with my purchase

The accuracy of your Python isn't surprising; Colt designed the gun with a strong emphasis on maximizing accuracy.

What a steal ya got on a python. Saw one the other day looking like a police trade in 3/4 of the 6 inch barrel had no blueing and looked like it had more holster wear on cylinder and frame etc etc

They wanted 675 for it. Needless to say it stayed there

welcome to the club, just found a 4 in for $450, what ammo are you using, I tryied some cheap 125 gr and the results were not plesant, than I find out 125 gr is not the best choice, next I will try some 158gr name brand.

I was using some cheap CCI blazer hollow points. they were cheap but they seemed to work well for plinking ammo.

Considering inflation...

$475 you did better than I did back in '86 when I paid $325 for mine.
