So I bought my first gun in quiet a while today. A Marlin 336C in .35 Remington. I think I might be in love. Its 'used' but doesn't look like it's ever been shot. I don't think I did too bad on the price. $390, may have been a bit high, but I wanted it today and it was the ONLY lever action in Houston in .35 Remington and no one could find one to order.

Pics to come.

Congratulations!! I had one of those also in 30-30. They were fun to shoot and to hunt with. They were short and light for stalking. I sold mine but hope to get another one....

Congrats!

They are nice rifles. My grandfather gave me his 336 in 30-30 just before he passed away, I don't shoot it very often but I'll never get rid of it.

Thanks guys, I hope to shoot it this weekend. I am planning on picking up some dies and reloading a 158 grain to about 2000 fps for cheaper fun. :)

So I downloaded the manual to look up cleaning, but it doesn't mention anything about where to oil it. This is my first lever action so I'm not real familiar with them. It has some grease on the bolt, should I wipe that off and apply a little oil to it?

As for oiling, I usually just hose it down with remoil and put a little CLP on the parts that look like they move, not much mind you. I then let it sit for awhile and wipe the excess off.

Nice 336, I've got a 36 that I won't ever give up.

35 Marlin

Marlins are highly addictive I now own five. Congratulations that is a wonderful rifle at a great price I have been looking for a 35 myself and have not seen anything that nice at that price.
