Got my PSL the day after Christmas, I was a bit disappointed at first with its woods' finish. The handguards and stock were two different colors of wood. That weekend I spent a little time and sanded them both down then restained them in redwood birch. Looks WAYYY better now. I just went to the range yesterday to shoot it for the 1st time and WOW am I impressed! It took two shots to sight in the 4x scope and grouping was 1.5-2" at 100 yards using 147 grain Bulgarian light ball ammo. Those who say these are not accurate guns must have lemons. I'm going to 300 yards next week, I'll post the pics then.

Here's the pics:

You definitely did a good job with the stock. It looks great.

I keep hearing mixed experiences with these things. Some peoples' seem to be extremely accurate while others are only slightly better than an AK. I guess the quality control wherever they are made is not that high, but certainly it's good news to hear that you got one of the good ones.

looks great, if the finish of the wood is the biggest problem you have, then you have no problems at all. looks good and i am glad that you are happy with it, i need to pick me up one of those, i have always wanted one.

These rifles intrigue me greatly. I just feel like I can get more/better stuff for the same price.

One of those is on my agenda.Guy next to me at the range today had one and I followed his targets to see what was.He averaged 2-3 inch groups at 100yds.

Most of us are saying they aren't MOA rifles as some people claim they are. And they aren't as you just showed us.

dunlap had a thread here a week or two ago claiming the rifle could shoot a 6" group at 800. Ha Ha!

Nobody said they couldn't shoot 2 or 3 inch groups. Mine did...that's why I sold it. I wanted more. They are neat rifles though.

Just got back from American Shooters in Houston, heres the 300 yards target posted below. I am VERY PLEASED with my PSL and all I have to do is upgrade the scope to a higher power I think if I had a higher power optic the groups would have been much better. Kalinkaoptics will be getting my business soon!

I agree with jpwilly. My PSL isn't a scattergun, but it's definitely not on the same level as a good AR10 or bolt gun. It's a 2-3 MOA rifle.

Is it inaccurate? Well, no. Not if you compare it to most semi-auto military style rifles. It's accuracy is pretty typical of those. If you compare it to sniper style rifles however, it doesn't make the grade.

Heavy and long for hunting but actually a well balanced rifle. I have noticed those PSL's have a serious issue with the varnish flaking off on the upper hanguard (I'm guessing heat from the gas tube overpowers Romanian shellac technology). The scopes are strange--that's really good shooting at 300 yards.

PS move your scope 2 clicks right.

+1 on moving two clicks right.

Please take and post some close-up pics of your stock work.

You have yourself a damned decent semi-auto sniper rifle there judging from your posted groups. And this was done using Bulgarian light ball surplus ammo?! YOWZA!!
I wonder what a good current production ammunition would do out of it? Topped with a hunting type of bullet. :)
If you try some, would you post your results, please?

Combat accurate and bech rest accurate are not the same thing. The PSL is a DMR rifle, not a sniper rifle.

While I would be confident in my ability to hit a man-sized target with my PSL at 300 yards, my AR10 and G3 will shoot circles around it.

The PSL, however, is much cheaper to play with.

If it makes you feel better I wouldn't want to be within 600meters of one of those things with an average joe shooting it. maybe 800 or so if they know what they are doing.

PS maybe 3-4 clicks right! Those IOR optics are nice though!

The last three shots I fired (the farthest ones to the right) are click adjustments I made. The one closest to the bull was my last round. :) I am very confident once I get a higher power scope that good grouping will be made much easier. I am thinking 6x or 8x, so far the 6x is more logical as someone else said in an earlier post, this is a good DMR rifle therefore I need to keep a wide field of vision.

It helps but good ammo is more important. I tried it with mine had an AK side rail mount that fit and put a 3-12x50 on it for an experiment. It looked god awful but worked. The groups didn't shrink much I was shooting from a rest so check weld didn't matter:

You should realize that Bulgarian ammo is widely considered the some of, if not the WORST of the Combloc ammo there is. Light ball in particular. He's shooting that well with genuinely crap ammo. I'll tell you what my PSL does once my PRVI Partisan gets here. I got the 8x scope for it so I can actually see where I'm aiming on the target at 100 yards.

^^^ I have shot practically every type of 7.52x54r surp there is plus I handloaded for my PSL and it un graciously tore up the brass. It wasn't an MOA rifle wasn't going to be. I'm glad your happy with yours!

Here's what I financed when I sold the PSL (I'd say I'm much better off).
