I took the new LC9 to the range today, and the first few rounds were a little wild. This is not unusual for me because having been hurt by some handguns before, I'm a little nervous. Then there was a click and no bang.

Looking at the unfired round I could see that the firing pin had barely touched it. Then I looked at the firing pin and no wonder: there was a small piece of brass there. I cleaned it, bang, bang, bang, click.

Looking again at the firing pin, I could see more brass shavings. I field stripped, cleaned well and started shooting again. I couldn't make it all the way through a magazine without the firing pin hole filling up with metal shavings.

Looking at the empty cases for rounds that worked, it looks like the firing pin is shaving off metal from the primers.

I've never seen this happen before, and like the dummy that I am, I didn't think to take a picture or keep any of the spent brass.

I think I heard something about that before with early production ones.... I believe Ruger's fixed that by now. look around the forum (or perhaps somebody else will chime in on this thread), if Ruger has already figured out a fix send it in to them.
