New Ruger LC9 Video

Nice to see the little pistol in action. I would have liked to have heard his thoughts on the trigger pull and what reliability was like for him. Maybe it was too cold for extended shooting. :p

I'd like to see some pictures of it with some of the other small 9mms (Taurus 709, PM9, CW9, etc) and the LCP for perspective. On paper it looks to be about the size of a CW9/P9

The specs are:

Length 6.00" Barrel length 3.12" Width 0.90" Height 4.50" Weight 17.10 oz.

Specs of the G26 for comparison

Length 6.29" Barrel length 3.46" Width 1.18" Height 4.70" Weight 19.75 oz.

Length 5.9" Barrel length 3.60" Width 0.90" Height 4.50" Weight 15.80 oz.

I see the MSRP is $443. The CW sells for right around $400.

I'd imagine that if the street price is right Ruger might well be able to replicate the success they had with the LCP.

Cute little 9mm - But 6+1 for a "Self Defense" gun?

Going to stay with a Glock and keep their LCR with +P as my pocket BUG.

Umm, ever heard of revolvers? :)

Seriously, how many rounds do you think is sufficient for a self defense handgun? 10? 15? 25?

Oh, and for what it's worth the LC9 is 7+1, like most 1911s, is that sufficient?

You don't understand what the gun is intended for if your saying that.
Its meant for a bug or small concealment gun like your LCR is.

I use a Kahr MK9 as a bug and back pocket gun, But Ruger put this gun out just at the right time when small/micro 9mm's are needed as many people don't trust .380's and they don't enjoy shooting them being so small. Then ammo price differences between .380 and 9mm is still rather large.

But this gun gives people a choice between the Kahr CW9 and this new Ruger.
I feel quality wise its above the KT's even tho thats arguable.

S&W is the one really missing out not bringing out an updated and smaller version of the lady smith. Used prices on the 3913 iirc is the same model is higher than they were new and going higher daily.

Even tho i doubt ill buy one as i have a Kahr MK9, Small 9mm's are useful and fun to shoot if made right.

Looks mildly interesting. Doubt I'll be getting one though. Already have a Ruger LCP. It's so close the Kel-tec P3AT in price that you're really just splitting hairs between the two - about $30-40 difference. This on the other hand, is looking like it may be in the range of $150 more than the Keltec PF-9. Think for a tiny 9mm I may end up opting for the Kel-tec.

I bet far more people will buy them as a primary carry than a BUG. It is roughly the same size as a Kahr and more people seem to have them as primaries than BUGs. Based on what I've seen more people seem to buy the LCP as a primary than a BUG and it really is not what I would consider an adequate primary carry gun.

That said most people are not going to be particularly under gunned with a 7+1 auto. Think of how many people carry 1911s to say nothing of revolvers. I'm of the school of thought that all other things equal more rounds is better and I'd rather have a 17 round mag and not need it than a 7 round mag. That said guns the size of the Kahr carry very well and are rather slim. The size comes with a trade off but one that probably wont bother a lot of people.

I was at the LGS today & remarked how I'd like an LCP in 9mm.

Ruger musta been listening.
Well I know what my next gun is gonna be.

It's larger in most dimensions than a Kahr PM-9.
Since I don't consider the PM-9 a pocket gun, I don't see the need for a giant LCP.
Now if you were looking for a reliable IWB or OWB carry gun, you may be interested.

I'm a big Ruger fan I own Redhawks, Blackhawks, a GP100, P345, P90, SP101, etc.

But I am sorely disappointed, it didn't really beat out the Glock 26 or 27 it seems. The Taurus PT 709 Slim may be a far better choice. Granted I'm looking at it for a pocket gun. If it's not fairly smaller than a Glock 26 I don't see the point. The manual safety, long DAO trigger pull, only 7+1, not a definite pocket pistol....I'm disappointed. I was holding out now I might as well just go and get a Glock 27, from what I've read in Combat Handguns the shorter barrel still offers 1100fps with Federal 155 JHP loads. Ruger, I love your revolvers and will get a Super Redhawk .454 in the future but I'm skipping your LC9. Oh and a make a 5" barrel 10mm version of your P345.

The chart is all jacked up but from what I gather I think I'll buy another P-11 before the LC9. Its much cheaper, carries more ammo, its shorter, lighter, and is only .01 inch thicker. I used to carry a P-11 and I sold it years ago but I shot quite a bit of ammo out of it. On second thought CDNN has PF-9s for $219.00. I probably just get one of those.

That chart has it wrong about the kahr pm9, its 6+1 not 5+1.

It looks like a good gun, except for that goofy loaded chamber indicator that looks big enough to screw up your sight picture and snag on the re-holster. If this would have been out a year ago I would have went with it instead of the taurus 709. No offense to taurus, but I just trust ruger more and like that they are an all American company. I have ruger's lcp and its been flawless.
