I know that the Ruger Mini-30 gets less than stellar reviews for accuracy, but I was wondering if anyone has shot the new 581 series Mini-30? It looks like Ruger is making 20 round magazines for the Free States and 10 rounds for us behind the iron curtain might not be too far behind. My wife loves my Mini-14 and prefers shooting it over my AR. I thought it might be fun to have a 7.62x39 as well. I realize that these are not bench rest rifles, but like to get groups around 2-3 inches or so. Has anyone here shot the new Mini-30 for groups?

I am not asking if you like the Mini or not and I already have an AK so please don't suggest I get one. The SKS is way too big and bulky for my needs and the wife hated the last one I owned.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Matt

My 581 series Mini 30 is not as accurate as my Mini 14 until warmed up. The first shot cold barrel is off more than the 14. Once warmed it is about the same.
Almost need two POAs, one for first shot then the rest. Depending on intended useage this could be a PITA.
Still I like it and have no intentions of getting rid of it. For reference I have an AK and 2 ARs as well...
Might want to visit perfectunion.com, lots of Mini info there.
