Just got the New Single Six. This is the blue model with rosewood grips, four inch barrel. I changed the cylinder from the magnum to the .22 long which took a bit of effort since I'm used to S&W. It came with a manual but I'm disappointed that it wasn't as clear as I had hoped regarding changing the cylinder, what to pull, how to do it and how to clean it. Is there a web link with step by step instructions for the New Single Six? Appreciate any info. Thank you. :)

You got a nice litle SA there. Got the 6 1/2" one myself. They're easy to work with. Changing cyls is a simple task. With the loading gate open press the plunger under the bbl holding the cylinder pin in place. The pin should then easily pull out and allow the cyl to be removed. With the cylinder emoved it allows easy access for cleaning too. A good and easy upgrade to the Ruger SA'
s is a Wolfe spring kit. Inexpensive and a noticable improvement to th action/trigger.

Oh, the bbl is 4 5/8" unless it's been altered.:D

www.rugerforum.com is full of people that can answer detailed/specific questions on it. Come on over.

Congrat on the nice gun. I handled it today and loved it. I am in the market for a Ruger now. I think I want either a Single Six, Super Blackhawk, or Vaquero. It must be in .44 magnum. I need a revolver that can handle a super hotload .44 magnum round, so I guess I need to buy a Ruger if I want to have enough money left for ammo.

Let's know how it shoot bro.

I plan to go out shooting soon. I picked up Blazers ammo .22 long and I'm dying to try it out. Someone mentioned Federal has a value pack that's even cheaper and more for your dollar at Walmart. I'll have to look. The ammo needs to be lead -- no metal jacket -- the rules of the club. I'd like to try the .22 magnum at some point. The thing that bothers me about the Ruger manual is that it doesn't provide pictures. I can't believe they wouldn't show a step by step guide. I had the magnum cylinder on it when I brought it home and was able to change that but it'd be nice if the manual they gave was clearer.

I might pick up a Bisley Vaquero in a 5+" barrel in stainless with Ivory grips in the .357 by Spring -- something to dream about for now anyway. Other guns on my list are the Beretta CX Storm and Sig Pro in a 9mm.

Congrats on your new Single-Six!! :D I've had mine since 1978 and I love it. It always goes to the range no matter what else I take. I use a lot of Winchester DynaPoints that are available at K-Mart or some Wal-Marts. CCI Velocitors are a good high-velocity round for critters or longer distance shooting. The Federal bulk stuff is OK, but not as accurate as the DynaPoints. For the 22WMR cylinder, I use either CCI Maxi-Mags or Winchester Super-X. I have just added a Weigand Combat mount and a BSA red dot. Still trying to get the handle on this combination.

Mustang45-- If you want to shoot a hot load in .44Mag, I would recommend the Ruger Super Redhawk. Very tough revolver and the recoil is much more managable that the Super Blackhawk. The SRH is

Thanks for the ammo tip. I'll be planning a trip up to Walmart to check out what they have in stock. I really hate the service because there's never anyone around, then they don't have the register key and I have to pay up front -- and they ask for my FID card. I always tell them you can't buy ammo with an FID card. "Do you even know what that card is?" I ask. Dead silence from the clerk. God I hate stupid people....

At the very least, I can check out prices so thank you for passing along your recommendations. :D

Great choice!! I love my staineless 6 1/2" as well.
One thing, I recently handled the 5 1/2" Stainless Bisley model with fixed sights and I was impressed at the Bisley grip!! So much in fact, that if they made that same gun with sights, I'd trade tomorrow!! I love the way that Bisley grip feels, awesome!!

From what I understand, there will be a run of ss 5 1/2" Bisleys in .357 and .22 to go along with those already made in .45LC, .44 and .41.

I picked up many boxes of Blazer .38 special the other day at the gun show. It was that a box of Blazer can go for 2.50. Forget reload when you can get Blazer.
