Hey guys,
Just picked up a Smith and Wesson Model 66-2 2.25'', looked lightly used, and for a fair price. Its my second S&W and second K frame.

Its all very nice, except I'm wondering about a 'cut' on the frame slightly off center from the trigger. Its right behind the trigger and on the left side of it. Odd, my other K doesn't have it (Model 64.) Also, there is a slight gap between the barrel and the frame at the very top of the frame. I'm not worried about either of these things, just want a little more info on them.

Overall, I'm very pleased with the gun. Can't wait to shoot it.

I'll try to get pictures up on it.

Sounds nice! I've got a 4" Model 686 already but was thinking about something a bit smaller for easier carry, so I am looking for a 2.25" Model 66 in good shape myself.

That gap is a factory milled slot for a trigger stop. It was an option on some guns and was adjustable for trigger overtravel. Occasionally they would become loose and lock up the revolver, making it necessary to disassemble the gun to correct the problem. A lot of of owners just removed the part. Congrats on the new to you handgun. Let us know how she shoots.

Mike
