I've been chomping at the bit to get my new Savage 14 American Classic in 7mm-08 set up and out to the range.... Today was the day.

The scope is a Burris Fullfield II that I purchased NIB for $100 on e-bay for this project a couple years ago. Base is a one piece Leupold and the rings are Burris Med. height.

I purchased the rifle of a dealer in NH who had it listed on Guns America for $575. I'm really happy with the finish and workmanship on it. The pillar mounted barrel floats freely hot and cold with even spacing on both sides.

Walnut stock is very pretty.

I froze my bunions off today (15 deg. with quite the cross wind) dialing in the scope with a box of Privi Partisan 140 gr PSPs. And after getting it right on the mark I realized that I had the eye relief too long. Back to the drawing board. Oh well, I was having fun.

I was pleasantly surprised that the recoil was quite manageable. Very similar to my 30-30.

I was tweeking the scope quite a bit and didn't really have any kind of proper rest, so I didn't really shoot any groups. But twice I had consecutive shots touching each other at 100 yds. So I'm taking this as a good sign.

This is he first time I've used any Privi-Partisan ammo. and I was pretty impressed with it. The case necks are annealed and it burns VERY clean. Looking forward to working up some hand loads with this brass.

I put 32 rounds through the rifle with the only problem being that I short cycled the bolt and failed to strip the next round off the DBM.

This is the first bolt action rifle I've ever owned and I think I'm going to like it a lot. I like the three position safety on the tange. Like the Accutrigger.

The LOP is 13-1/2", which is too short for me. So I'll swap out the stock rubber but with a Kick-Eze and pick up the extra inch I need.

I had considered getting the Weather Warrior with the new Accu-stock. But I've always been a sucker for blued steal and walnut.

Rifle looks really nice. Been looking to purchase some of that ammo online myself but cannot find a supplier with any in stock.

Check out ammunitiontogo.com; don't just look on their website, as it is pretty incomplete- send them
an email or call them to find out what they have, on that day you wanna order.

Beautiful rifle, really; just plain nice!!! I would be a bit afraid to shoot it, to carry it into the woods!!

Prvi is Serbian made ammo; The serbs have been quite innovative over the last 30 years, and have given us some pretty good stuff- I believe most of your wolf ammo, at least the steel case stuff comes from them. And they have made some interesting firearms lately as well, coming up with some nice 50 cal stuff, and of course, the springfield xd doesn't exist without their makeing of the pistol first.

Those are really nice rifles...huh? How do you like the balance? The accuracy is there and the expensive price tag isn't.

Try Talley "DOUBLE EXTENDED" base ringmounts in the front, extension facing aft, and Talley "EXTENDED" base ringmounts for the rear mount.

You may be able to use the "Extended" base ringmounts front and back, but the Double Extended will definitely work.

Sweet rifle, I love mine. The 7mm-08 I have in the 14 prefers Hornady Light Magnum 140gr SP the best...consistent .3-.4 out of it @100y, cold shot is within .250" center POI.

Cleaned up my 14 today and got more aquainted with the bolt assembly than I intended...

I was cleaning around the extractor with a Q-tip when I had a "patwang" ...

I saw one part fly to my left and heard a plop to my right.... uh oh!

Out came the 500 watt halogen light and much to my surprise, I found both the extractor and the retaining ball quite quickly....

Since the spring was still in the hole.... I fortunately had everything to put it back together...

I'm so thankful that I didn't lose any parts
