I just picked up my CZ vz58 Military Sporter last week and took it out to the range. What a hoot to shoot! I didn't want an AR, or AK type rifle. Just seen too many around I guess. The little vz58 is light, easy handling and combat accurate at 100 yards and beyond. I couldn't believe how light the rifle feels and yet there is little felt recoil. It's just plain fun to shoot. At just over 6lbs and 16" with a 30 round mag it is the perfect go to rifle for self defense. No frills, rock solid gas piston reliability and quick handling I think it is just about the ideal addition to any shooters arsenal. I'm even thinking of getting another with the skeletonized stock. One other thing... cleaning it is a piece of cake and for someone that sees gun cleaning as a chore that's a big plus. :D

congrats on your purchase, pics would be nice. i myself would be getting another vz58 (tactical version). czs could be addictive, as i purchase a cz452 fs, now i keep searching the cz75 p01 compact, i got bit pretty bad

I own a 452 Varmint in .17HMR and a 527 American in .223 as well as my vz58. CZ rifles are addictive because they are so darned good at what they do. While I like shooting my HK 91 and HK USC a lot the vz58 is a practical and inexpensive to shoot semi auto. The 7.62x39 round while not as potent as the 7.62x51 is still devastating against soft targets. It's a really simple well made rifle. I'm glad I laid down the money to get it and as I said before, I'll probably be getting the Tactical Sporter as well. One cannot have enough of a good thing and the vz58 is a really good thing to have IMHO. :D
