Really beautiful and classy too. Might they be slippery at times though?

They are Altamont grips. I emailed Altamont about a month ago about getting some of these and they wrote back that they don't offer/make them anymore I guess they discontinued them. So when I saw these on Ebay I bought this set.

They look good, but I'm not familiar with the term bonded ivory. What does that mean?

Oh my. I'm not usually an ivory fan (i prefer wood, personally) but I'd definitely make an exception for that gun/grip combo any day.

Personally I like ivory grips on stainless or nickel plated guns as much as I like them on blued guns. I have a set of Bar-S Tru-Ivory grips on my polished stainless Vaquero and it looks fantastic.

Me too! I love ivory, ivory substitute or stag on a stainless or plated sixgun.

Congrats; they look good....Some of the guys in my office got together and got me a set of faux ivory grips for my 586, and I love mine too. :)

Sorry. Just not a fan of ivory. At some point, they came from some majestic animal slaughtered for their tusks or horns. I wouldn't want to be showing off my support of that.

So, will they age like solid ivory or stay white?
That I don't know.

Might want to educate yourself before making statements like that. Elephants, like virtually any other critter, need to be hunted to control their population. Legally hunted elephants are NOT wasted and the African elephant is not even endangered. The only ivory coming into the US today is when imported by those who hunt them legally and it can never be sold. All else is pre-ban ivory.

Wonder if I could pulverize antlers and make bonded stag?
Or use bone meal/resin for bonded bone?
Food for thought.

I think bonded bone Magnas would look good on a K frame.

I guess if I could get elk teeth, I could make my own bonded ivory.
I've thought about making clear polyester or PMMA resin grips, just to show the mainspring.
Maybe I should make clear sideplates, to show the lockwork, too.
Would need hardened washers cast in for the hammer/trigger pivots.
