For father's day my wife gave me the go ahead to get a new addition. I went to get a Bushnell Banner 4-12x40 from Academy Sports. When I got there I saw the Maverick 88 Field for $156.99. I wanted a 20 gauge model. While looking for the 20 gauge model I saw a box that said "Special 10% off". I mentioned what is that box there with the 10% off.
That must be a mistake the sales person said. I mentioned mistake or not it is marked that way it should be honored. I was very polite and the sales guy was too. He mentioned what he would do in this situation is give me a 10% discount card because they could not discount guns. I said okay let me think about it.

As I was thinking about it he said "I can also just give you $20 ammo instead if you wanted". I was still thinking about the purchase. I need a shotgun for the home, and it I can get good accessories for the gun being a Maverick 88. I also had an ace up my sleeve. Grin

I told the sales guy open it up lets look at it. It was functioned fine. Function checks passed. So I bought the gun. When we go to the checkout my ace was the $10 off card mailed to me. So the total cost of the shotgun was $141.xx. I am pretty happy with the purchase.

Another ace in the hole was that my wife got mailed a $10 card as well. So I went to the other Academy Sports across town and got my ammo for $10 off as well. Grin

I can't wait to get a rifled barrel for the North Arkansas slug only hunts. Also use this next spring for Turkey down in South Arkansas. Might have to do a little dove hunting. Possible a squirrel will fall to this. What's that? Duck hunting? Sure why not. Oh! You have some crows that need eradicated? I got you covered, Pop.

well. I watched the video for disassemble of the Mossberg 500 on youtube.com. That man's videos are most appreciated.

I took CLP and a good brush and stripped all the gunk that was in the gun.. After reassembly the gun was much more responsive and smooth. Before I was having an issue with feeding a round after the first was loaded and ejected. I haven't shot the gun, but will tomorrow. I am in debate on ordering a 20" or 24" rifled barrel to hunt deer with in Zone 4, AR. Then I would like to add a 20" smooth barrel for HD. I can't make up my mind if I want an 18.5" or 20" for HD. Suggestions?

I have never had a shotgun with a 28" barrel. Man, that is a huge gun. I think I am going to like this gun if it shoots and functions well after that.

28" barrels are great for bird hunting and clays - my O/U has 32" for that, so don't rule out one if birds or clays are on the menu.....as for HD, either 18 or 20 will be just fine....

have fun with it.....you might even let the wife shoot it some.....

Don't you fret. :)

The wife shoots anytime she can. She love's the XD9 and AR15. Oh. I just bought her a '72 336 for next years hunt in Southern AR.
