Hey guys, hoping someone here can help me out. I just picked up a new CZ 612 which is CZs 12ga pump that they are importing from Turkey for Akkar. They can be had for around $230 so I thought I would take a chance on it. When I first picked it up I was pleasantly surprised by the guns fit and finish. The pump was smooth and the trigger was good and it really felt like a high value shotgun.

Anyways, what is happening is the latch on the right side of the fire arm is occasionally getting stuck on the end of shells and not falling down to allow the next shell to be loaded onto the carrier. I'll eject a round out and the next round won't pop into the carrie because the latch has kept it in the magazine. It's done this with live ammo and my dummy rounds and it's usually 2 out of 5 times or so. I've torn the gun down and there doesn't appear to be anything under the latch preventing it from dropping and the latch's spring appears fine. It's simply getting stuck on the end of the next shell and not falling down. If I slam the forend as hard as I can I can get it to work a majority of the time but after about 25 or so times I've racked it so hard the end cap of the magazine starts to become unscrewed.

Any thoughts? I really, really wanted to like this gun.

*edit* I wonder if just shooting it will be enough to jar the next round free of the latch? Could work since me racking it hard does the trick. I'll have to shoot it before I do anything as far as sending it into CZ.

I think I've figured it out. The magazine spring is too strong for the latch spring and it is pushing the next shell against the latch too hard and is preventing the latch from falling. I took the end cap off and let a few coils of the spring hang out and it functioned just fine like that. Obviously, I can't have the mag spring handing out of the front of the gun so I'm going to leave rounds in the magazine for a week or so in hopes it weakens up the spring to allow the latch to fall.

Try lubricating it with Rem Oil as well as the linkage. Beretta's and Bennellis tend to jam up in the same fashion when used with slow burning powder, like steel shot and other hunting loads.

Thanks, I did put some oil on the end of the latch. I think I solved the problem though. My dummy rounds and been worn so much that divots had been created on the end of the shells which the latch was getting stuck in. It ran new live ammo reliably. I think the issues it was having with live ammo before was due to the magazine spring still being too new and strong but now that it has weakened ever so slightly it's feeding reliably as long as it's not my dummy rounds.

Thanks
