I don't know if anyone remembers the HALO Mfg. P-12, but it's evolved into the Monolith Arms P-12, same people, different name, I believe.

It's in final prototype stage now and will premier at the SAR show in Phoenix, Aridzona (that's Not a misspelling:evil:) this December.

Specifications seem to be:
20-round horizontal magazine, similar to but not the same design as a P/PS-90's.
27 inch overall length
18 inch barrel
<9 pounds of weight (not sure if that's empty or full).5.7 Forum review

I've always had a little 'thing' for bullpups, this Will be mine if it makes it into final production.

Looks very cool. Too bad it's a pump.

I'm fine- in fact, I prefer a pump with traditional defensive shotgun designs, but in a relatively high-cap format, auto makes more sense. I do understand the reluctance to develop an auto in case BATF arbitrarily ruled against it. :fire:

Semi-auto, magazine-fed, pistol-gripped shotguns are already a no-no on a lot of lists. I recall they had considered a semi-auto but it was much simpler to do a pump and allowed greater market penetration.

It should feed just about as well as any other double stack magazine. The top round may slip out, but that's all I'd imagine. Everyone's heard the urban rumors about rounds in the P90 magazines somehow magically getting messed up if that magazine is dropped, but no one who has one has ever been able to recreate it.

The way the horizontal magazine works is that there are two steps to the rotation, there's the beginning where each round is parallel, an intermediate step where the round drops down and turns 45-degrees and the final step where it's been turned a complete 90-degrees and is laying against the feed lips. Given both spring pressure and gravity, I'd expect feeding performance to be at least equal to a magazine that relied only on spring pressure.

Being a pump makes it
CA legal! (with a low capacity special 10 round magazine)

Potential issues I see:
I think the feeding mechanism looks less reliable for shotgun shells.
The far forward carrying handle makes almost no sense because the weight will be in the rear of the firearm causing the muzzle to have a strong bias to point up towards anyone carrying it by the handle.
The firearm appears to be made primarily of fantastic plastic. I like metal shotguns.
The feeding design would appear to limit one to a single size shell, giving up one of the big advantages a pump has, versatility.

Still I am quite happy to see the idea of bullpup ( but pistol grips make semis too evil for CA) shotguns is being brought back to life. Best way to deal with the 26" overall and 18" barrel requirements in a defensive shotgun, while having an ideal indoor defensive platform. That one was designed with a standard 20 round capacity is even better.
If only they had decent triggers.

Actually, I think the 'carrying handle' is a scope mount. Something like this is begging to have a red dot on it. I love the design and will buy one as long as the price is reasonable.

The SAR show is always awsome. In fact, I just started selling off some safe queens to start my SAR show fund.

An astute observation, yellowcarbon, it is in fact Not a carrying handle. If it were, it'd work about as well as the carrying handle on a gallon jug of milk. It is a mounting point for optional front sights.

Yellowcarbon, should you go to the SAR show, Please try to give us an update on this as to whether or not it truly looks ready for production. I don't want to sell off all my Enron stock without knowing one way of the other.

Zoogster, from the article Monolith Arms plans to introduce 20, 10, and I think, 5 or 3 round magazines.

They really need to put some winged protectors on that scope mount for the Trijicon Reddot. I have a Jpoint on my ACOG that has a winged mount and I am sure it has already saved my sight. I do not baby my guns, mainly because I am ham fisted. JP Enterprise makes a winged mount that fits between the sight and the mount. So there is a solution already out there is they don't offer it from the factory.

I really am curious about the pricing on this gun. A Saiga is $600 (uncoverted) plus $50 for 10rd and $250ish for 20rd drums. A Remington 870 can be had for $350ish w/ a 7rd tube. So I would say it needs to be in the $800 range to sell w/ mags around $50-75 each to really be a hot seller There isn't much to a pump gun and the really nice thing is the magazine. So hopefully it won't be too much.

I would like to say they should sell it to Bushmaster, Remington or Mossberg. But the Bushmaster ACR (the Magpul rifle) still hasn't been released. I would really like to see somebody get this thing out the door.

The SAR show is about 25 miles from me, so I have no excuse why not to go. I always find something at the SAR show, even if it is just a few stray parts. I have seen a bunch or pre-release stuff at the SAR show. I will definitely stop by and check out this gun. I will post what I think of the gun in December.
