I loaded some 7-o8 ppu brass with 13gr of Trail Boss and 139gr bullets. They shot fine. I also had some full power loaded with a good moderate load of RL17 also shot great. Other than powder all things are the same. Also Fed 210 pimers was used.

The odd thing is: when I ran the full power loads through the FL die the pin knocked the primer out as normal but primer seems to get sucked back up in the low power Trail Boss loads. I had to raise the ram a second time on almost every one of the TB loads to make the primers drop off the pin.

I first figured that the pin didn't go deep enough but after adjusting I'd noticed that there was only about 1/16-1/8'' of clearance before bottoming out. I'll square the pin off when I get home but it will be a while before I can tell if it'll work.

I do just the opposite. I round the head of the decapping pin very slightly to make it smooth. Sometimes there's a burr on the end and it catches just enough inside the anvil to hold onto the primer.

Hope this helps.

If it is a burr, that should work, but the one I rounded a bit more just jammed even better in the anvil. *sigh*

Good news is that there is plenty of pin to work with if one way doesn't work. :)

When I was having that problem I ended up extending the pin out further. Some of the newer dies have a spring loaded pin which knocks the primer off when it comes clear.

Just try polishing it slicker then owl snot before you do anything to the shape.

I never had any luck with a sharp 90 degree end.
Or a completely rounded end either.

Somewhere in between and highly polished works for me.
A dab of case lube from your fingertip on the end does't hurt either.

I always wanted to put some bristle brush at the top of the primer exaughst tube. Light enough to push through, yet strong enuf to give those primers the brush off on their way back up. No idea how to do it on my rcbs pro2000 tho.

You know, the more I think about it, the less problems I think I ever had with that.

Most all my dies are old RCBS, and air pressure inside the sizing die must Blow them off the pin as soon as they clear the primer pocket.

At any rate, they come out with a loud 'Pop!'.
And end up ricocheting around the primer catcher three times, before ending up on the floor!
