My new Standard SA 44-40 came in today earlier than expected. Haven’t been to the range but dry fired it a few times with snap caps and the trigger is just as nice as the 45 version I got last year. Grips are faux ivory with perfect fit and feel. Loading gate and trigger guard seams are perfect and can’t even be felt. Fire blue small parts are nice.
If any of you have John Taffin’s book, “Reader‘s Digest Book of the 44” hang on to it. My dealer had just bought a 1st gen Colt in 44 Special and wanted to do a little research on it so when I went to pick up my gun I took my Taffin book along. My dealer wanted a copy so I told him to check Amazon where I had bought mine ten years ago…price $29.95 + ship. He pulled up Amazon and the cheapest price for that book in used condition was now $360 with several others going as high as $500+! Couldn’t believe it. Moral…hold on to those old out of print gun books.
