I saw one in the shop the other day. Safety was weird. In front of the trigger , gotta push it up. But those sights!!!! What are those called? The triangle ones? They are rad to the max! Can you buy those for other guns??? What model Steyr am I even talkin about?

You are talking about the Steyr M and S series, the site are called trapazoidial, and yes they are rad to the max. I like the manuel safety in the trigger guard, but rarely use it. The Steyrs are very nice guns and worth looking into. I would suggest doing a search on this forum, you will find enough reading to keep you busy for hours.

nice thing bout trigger is you dont have to use it. though trigger is short light pull so I tend to keep it on myself. you can turn the safety off and pull the trigger in one long pull I think if they were to release the gun today it would probably have the triple action like daewoo and walther p99/smith and wesson sw99.

I have not seen the sights for other guns. the steyr night sights are three dot instead of triangular. steyr has 2 versions out M and S series, M is medium sized and S is sub compact. they are good buys in $300-$400 range beyound that and I would look else where for one. M series is in 9mm,.40S&W and .357sig. the S series is in 9mm and .40S&W might have a .357sig version as well but if their is it was not imported. S9 is rare and goes for $450 easy due to small ammount imported. M357 was not imported in large ammount. M9 and M40's are somewhat plentifull.

These have been around since 1999 though retailed at $600 and sold for that so never grew popular.

I got my Steyr M9 for $360 from my local dealer. I like it alot, but I my carry gun is a Glock 26. Frankly, I wouldn't even have looked at it if it was priced at retail. The biggest problems with these guns is the somewhat erratic factory warranty support. They supposedly have an importer now as well as a place to get parts. We'll see. I think they shoud enter the market to compete in the XD-9/Glock price range. Even priced at the same level as Glock, they won't sell.

BTW, I really think the Trap sights are awesome. This gun has alot of features.

I have owned a Steyr S40 for a short while now. I have not shot it a lot yet, but what I have, I like it a lot. I also have a G27.

there is a factory authorized repair center in montezuma Iowa. not far from brownells. its also the home to www.usasteyr.com. the problem is not warranty service but parts. steyr has had problems with its factory and had to move and production slowed down and import stopped. though it has just picked up some cdnninvestments.com got in some new steyr mags and they are on sale for $19.99 now compared to $24.99.

odells engineering in canada can do warranty service and has spare mags and parts availible. caliber conversions also availible.
