I have found the website of a company that manufactures Stock carving duplicators, and it has inspired me to perhaps buy one and set up a company that custom carves new gunstocks. Is there much of a demand? I have several Savage 99 stocks that I can do for myself, but, of course, I would like for the machine to pay for itself, and also to give me a good income. Are there many places that produce new stocks? I have heard that the waiting time is intolerable, usually. Where can one get a stock carved? I am not talking about the usual, like a remington 70, but rather a rare one, like one of my own: a Savage 99 and matching forearm. Some thoughts?

A Remington 70 would be quite rare :D, I know what you meant.

I just don't see the demand. personally. Not if you intend to make a profit. If the equipment isn't too expensive there might be a niche market

The market is pretty well covered for vintage replacement wood.

And modern stuff.

Then, the other thing is?

Do you have a good source of good walnut or other good stock blanks at affordable prices?

Or your own logging operation / saw mill / Klein drying oven, and aging warehouse??
And a few years you can wait before you can make stocks out of the seasoned blanks?
