Ok I decided on a previous post I had made and bought the TC Venture in 30-06. I got scope mounted and cleaned it up ready to sight it in
At this point It hasn't been shot yet. I just got it out to show my buddy and worked the bolt and dry fired it. As I was talking to him I was holding the rifle and working the bolt. As I was doing this I felt a grinding in the bolt as I pushed it down after cycling it. If I lift the bolt and close it I feel the grinding and can hear it. Almost like gears. After a few lifts and close it quits until i cycle it all way back and forward and kick down. Then as I sing lift and close the grinding starts again. Working it and listening it sounds like it's coming up in chamber area where the lugs are engaging. Problem is I believe once the lugs are engaged, just simply lifting the bolt and closing shouldnt be disengaging the lugs so what could it be turning making this noise and any ideas what it is?

I was just working it again and if I work it slow and easy it sounds like a spring. If I work it hard and quicker it sounds more like chatter than a grinding.if that helps explain it better. Also if I hold back pressure on bolt as work it up and down it is perfect and smooth and quiet as it should be. If I hold forward pressure and bear forward on bolt as I work it up and down that's when it chatters

Ok I lost some sleep wondering about it through the night so i got up this morning and went and tried something. Again, I have not shot it but I did put an empty resized and trimmed shell case in and worked the bolt. There is no chatter or sound at all. It is as it should be. So that leaves me to wonder what the issue is then on an empty chamber. Is there to much tolerance and slop where the lugs engage the recesses and locks down???

Take that rifle to the range. Load it up with live ammunition and shoot it. Let us know how the action feels and sounds while doing that. If it feeds and extracts reliability, I wouldn’t worry about it. I’m not trying to sarcastically dismiss your concerns, but let’s see how she shoots with live ammunition.

Clean and lap the lugs. If there’s anything in there, cleaning will remove it, if there’s a proud burr, lapping will eliminate it. Lapping for enhanced contact will likely be good anyway.

Another thought - easily troubleshot and proven/disproven: do your mount screw holes pass all the way through the action? Is there a mount screw dragging on your bolt?

T/C is good about taking care of their customers. I'd suggest calling before doing anything to the rifle. Under the new ownership it's not exactly the same as before. T/C will take care of you. Sure, check the simple stuff but no grinding, lapping or hammering. Several months ago I spoke to a gent there who made a shipping label while I was on the line. I was shipping my Dimension back. Problem was made good. Just a suggestion.

UPDATE
I took my venture to the gunsmith today. He worked it and listened and said it sounded like the spring in the bolt. The firing pin spring. He told me Rem 700 use to do that many years ago because the springs would kink. He said it did not mess with the reliability. He said Remington updated the issue. My gunsmith is around 85 years old. Being doing this his entire life. He took the bolt apart and showed me and confirmed it is the firing pin spring. It I kinked but again said it would not effect it. It was not gummed up in anyway. Reassembled and came home. It still bothers me that it makes that sound sometimes. It made me wonder if it could possibly be one of ones with misfire issues and that spring be contributing factor to it? This particular rifle was built in November 2014 so closer to 2015. It is brand new as the gun store bought many of them. What is your thoughts? Thank you

so im guessing the sound is the spring rubbing the inside of the bolt body. You could check to see if there are any rough spots and try to polish them out (the heavy moly lube was basically going to hide the imperfections). Ill also polish springs sometimes, but thats usually a waste of time with decent springs.

Ok went to the range this morning to do barrel break in and ight in and shoot groups. I took 1 box hornaday whitetail ammo with 150gr inner loc bullets , 1 box blue box Federal ammo 150 gr. , and my Reloads of 168gr. BARNES Triple shock bullets on 57 grains of H4350. It shot great!!! Very surprised . I shot Federal ammo first and shot a .880 inch 3 shot group. I next loaded the Hornaday ammo and shot a .567" 3 shot grpup. Last was my Barnes reloads with 168 gr match bullet. I shot 3 and they were tight so shot a 4th to see if it would open. It did not. I shot a 4 shot group of .569" I was blown away. I shot off my Caldwell lead sled so was very stable. Groups were measured by my digital reloading calibers. The breakin procedure I used was cleaning after every shot for first 5 shots then I cleaned after every 3 shot group. I'm very blessed!!! This rifle is a true shooter. Definately a keeper. Think you all for your tips and guidance.
