My local gun shop had a Springfield 1911 Ronin in 10mm that I decided that I needed to have. $820. I did some research and posted on another forum if there was any reason not to buy the SA or if there was another option to consider.

Someone mentioned a Tisas D10. What? Never heard of it. Turns out, Tisas is a Turkish gun manufacturer that produces some very good quality 1911s for way below typical value. They use all forged parts and the performance, fit and finish, and overall value is amazing.

I found one on clearance from Palmetto State Armory for $599 and ordered it. Already ordered a Tripp Research 9-round mag for it as well. Really looking forward to getting it in and evaluating it. Absolutely did not need it as I already had woods carry well covered with a Glock G29 and XDM Elite OSP in 10mm that both hold 1 round and 2 rounds more, respectively, at a much lighter weight and incredible accuracy and reliability.

But, I had 3 1911s. A Colt custom build in .45 ACP, a Remington R1 Limited Match in .40 S&W, and a Kimber Custom Carry II in .45 ACP. A full-size 10mm seemed like a natural addition to the stable.

I have fondled one at LGS in the past and am quite fond of what it has to offer. While I’m still interested, a 10MM in a 1911 platform isn’t high on my priority list. I had a RIA in 10MM in the past but sold when I felt it didn’t provide anything over my G20 and wasn’t as accurate.

That being said, hope you enjoy your new Tisas when it arrives.

To me a 1911 feels better in the hand and points more naturally than many other guns. I have a Kimber Camp Guard that has been great, once I got it broken in. I also have a Tisas 45 and they are very well made guns. Congratulations on your new addition.

Tisas pistols are a great deal. You won't be disappointed. You did it the smart way - I ordered a GI model and did all the upgrades myself (except milling the slide for the sights -- which cost almost as much as the pistol!). In the end, though, it's a great gun!

Recently we made the decision to pick up the Tisas, Smith and BUL 1911 lines at our store. Looking forward to the feedback and getting long time regulars a new interest. When you get the chance pen a few comments how she did for you please. Constructive crit is always a good thing.
