Allright, I was sitting thinking of what to spend my saved money on, And An FAL or a varient entered my head. I know a lot of people love these guns, But to tell the truth Ive never shot one. My father is the only one that I know that has. All he says is "They are good." Have any of you had any experience with em?:neener:

Does anyone know a good online dealer for them. I only have $800.

Thanks

Keep your eyes on the falfiles marketplace. There are usually some nice rifles on there at reasonable prices. It's also THE site for all things FAL. An excellent place to learn about the various FAL variants produced over the years.

Agree on the falfiles
Some very knowledgable folks over their.
You will not find a new rifle for that price, but can find some very nice shooters if you are patient.

Pete

Yup thats exactly what im after is A "battle rifle". I will be watching falfiles for one in my range. Dont need a tack driver at all, Ill use a bolt gun if I need that.

Thanks

I believe things have changed then because market price for a new DSA StG58 is around $1100-1200 last time I checked.

Avoid Hesse or any cast receiver Fal's also some of the FrankenFal's are a mix of a metric receiver (usually Imbel) with an inch pattern kit.
Some of the ones by CAI or Century Amrs are OK others are built by drunk monkeys on Friday afternoon.

Try to find a good metric one by checking

www.auctionarms.com

www.gunbroker.com

www.gunsamerica.com

Also a copy of Shotgun News or The Gun List may be worth going through.

Allot of decent ones out there just be patient and do a little research on www.falfiles.com

A good one will not disappoint you.

It is the battle rifle chosen by more countries in the free world over any other rifle?

Best of luck.;)

FAL's rock!

I just got my first one from DSArms, and I am already addicted. I really like the fact that they are very well built from all American parts, and surprisingly, the one I got seems to be a tack driver, conrtrary to the 2-4 MOA groups I expected. I I have printed multiple under 1 MOA groups at 100 yards, in my first outtings with Remington ammo, and some 1984 head stamped surplus, in light wind with both the scope and iron sights:)..

I already want a Para to go with my 19" medium contoured big boomer:evil:!!

I would suggest our STG58 if you can find a dealer that will do a transfer purchase for you. It might not take you long to save up the difference as $800 gets you most of the way there. To me they are the best bargain in an FAL right now as you get the best receiver on the market, a brand new match grade barrel, and Austrian parts from rifles that saw little use (in some cases none). I hear from many happy customers who own STGs and absolutely swear by them, both for reliability and accuracy.

John is right about DSA's STG58. They're great guns...

Get one before they're gone forever. It's widely accepted that the Austrian StG-58 rifles were the finest of all the FALs, and they serve as the basis for the DSA STG-58.

And please join us at falfiles.com for more...

:)

The STG58s are a steal when you get a FFL transfer it. Do business straight with DSA. Most of the time, the prices on the site are quite inflated when compared to the actual price you pay for the rifle. My rifle was supposably around $1200, but I got it for $860. Go figure.

All your FAL are belong to us...

We are the FAL-Borg....you will be assimilated...

Welcome to the disease ;)

Don't discount the "cheaper" FAL type rifles. If you know what you are looking for you can latch onto a bargin.
For example a Century, yes I said the horrid "C" word, FAL/L1A1 built in Canada on either a Argentine or Imbel reciever and under $600 would be a good find. It's the stuff of theirs cranked out later in the USA on no name recievers with single "coal shoot" feed ramps that you should avoid like the plauge.

Sorry iamkris, Just a little bit of sarcasm there because a whole bunch of people like them, I can read AND use the search function:) Didnt really answer my question when I searched is all. I just want my right arm of the free world is all. ;)

Thanks guys Im going to take your advice.
