180gr acme coated bullet 40s&w
Welcome to THR!

While Hi-Tek/coated bullets can be driven to jacketed velocities, keep in mind that they are usually sized larger than .400" so I recommend use of lead load data which use .401" sized bullets. BTW, Acme sizes their 180 gr FP coated bullets larger at .401" - http://www.acmebullet.com/bullets-r...ad-Hard-Cast-Bullets/40-10MM-180FP-NLG-Coated

And when seating/crimping the bullet, use sufficient flare to not shave the coating off the bullet or you will have leading issue in your barrel.
have 231, titegroup, clay
Because using faster burn rate powders than W231/HP-38 produces snappier recoil, I usually recommend W231/HP-38 and slower burn rate powders for 40S&W (So I would not use Clays or Titegroup).

Here are some lead loads from 1999 Winchester load data compared to current Hodgdon load data for 180 gr Berry's plated FP bullet - http://www.thehighroad.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=159609&stc=1&d=1329800605

170 gr Lead W231 Start 4.0 gr (850 fps) 22,800 PSI - Max 5.2 gr (1030 fps) 33,200 PSI
180 gr Berry's FP W231 Start 4.4 gr (872 fps) 26,400 PSI - Max 5.1 gr (984 fps) 33,500 PSI
200 gr Lead W231 Start 3.0 gr (700 fps) 21,100 PSI - Max 4.0 gr (850 fps) 33,200 PSI

W231/HP-38 is a flexible powder capable of producing light 9mm-like recoil loads at 3.8 to 4.0 gr with 180 gr lead bullet and produces mild to moderate recoil loads at 4.1 to 4.4 gr with lower pressures.

For Acme 180 gr coated bullets, I would suggest you use 3.8 gr as start charge and test 4.0/4.2/4.4 gr loads. Many reloaders like Unique/Universal and slower burn rate powders for higher velocity full power loads and I prefer slower powders like BE-86, Herco and WSF.
