Well I got bit in a gun store and bought a beat to death repo 1851. The gun looks like someone tried to "antique" it. Poor thing is beat to death and all the blue is gone. But the lock up is very tight. Which makes me think it will shoot well. The bore is bright and the cylinders look clean as well. and the nipples are not flattened. My guess someone tried to pass it off as an old gun at one point. It is not worth posting a picture of the poor thing, it would be a waste of bandwidth. Only mark on it is Italy under the loading ram. I am going to go over it with a loop and see if I can find any hint of the manufacture.

The gun shop in Cottonwood AZ also had a real Colt but they wanted $500 for it and an original Harpers Ferry musket that was converted to caps. Looked like an early conversion because the mount for the nipple looked like a round tube with a nipple on it. I have seen newer conversions that had a different setup. At $3300 it was way out of my price range. Way out. The shop had a lot of BP stuff.

The gun shop name is Smoke N Guns. The sell Guns and Cigars. Here is the phone number (928) 634-3216. I would rate the shop an eight on a 1 to 10 scale. I am not associated with the shop in any way other than I paid about $100 too much for the pistol.

Good rescue Joe.
And i don't think anyone would concider it a "waste of bandwidth" for you to show us the new adoptee so we can all welcome it 'home' ;)

Now I will have to figure out how to take a digital picture and post it. The gun is real ugly. It will be next week before I get to it.
