I just purchased a 91/30 from Dunham's here in NE Ohio for $149. It’s an Izhevsk hex receiver, dated 1933T. The receiver, bolt, mag floor plate, and butt plate numbers all match. The bore is as bright as any of the 91/30 rifles that I've looked at, the bluing is strong everywhere except the butt plate, and the stock is decent, so I'm very happy. But there are a couple of items I'm a bit concerned about.

1 - The front sight is drifted WAY to the left. Can I assume that when this rifle was re-arsenal led it was sighted in? Should I be concerned about a barrel or muzzle issue, or is this to be expected.

2 -The trigger has a very long take up, then just before it breaks the rear of the bolt rises slightly in the receiver. I can see this, I feel it in the trigger, and I can even hear it. From there, it breaks cleanly. Is this anything to be concerned about?

Thanks in advance.

At some point this rifle has had a carbine wide front sight placed on a narrow front sight base. There are two different styles.

Nothing to worry about with the trigger.

There's a number of vendors on the internet that you can contact to purchase a front sight that fits your base if you like. By the looks of it you'll have to drift it to the left also, though. This isn't too uncommon. The Russians/Soviets sighted these rifles in with the bayonets fixed which would change the Point of Impact (POI) as opposed to Point of Aim (POA).

I think you've got the right idea of going out and shooting it this weekend. As it currently stands the rifle will probably shoot suprisingly nice groups. Have fun and enjoy!
