well on my search for a new 12 ga I looked at some o/u shotguns and the stoeger m3500 and a few others in the 600-$700 price range. I really wanted something I could shoot everything from 2 3/4 to 3 1/2 inch shells just so I could have a good all around shotgun. I also was wanting something that I didn't have to worry about getting a few scratches on either. I ended up buying a used browning gold hunter 3 1/2 off gunbroker for 600 shipped to me. I took it to the range and it shoots amazing. it even cycled 1 oz loads.

Well done, brother. In many events, brand names and manufacturers abound; age and having spent many $'s have proved the following now as tenets: Browning Firearms: exceptionally reliable and I've NEVER seen an ugly one. Mercedes-Benz engines: I've seen them blown to hell in combat, devoid of oil, and limp in. Congratulations on your new scattergun!

Browning's 'speed load' feature is a really nice touch on this model. With the action locked open, magazine and chamber empty, feeding a shell into the magazine will send it instantly into the chamber.

I saw that feature in use in a shotgun class a while back - it really made a difference for that particular student.

Remember to be conscious of the position of your safety and trigger finger at all times, of course...

I just hopped on GB and looked at some Golds and I sure didn't see much of anything with a 3.5" chamber for six hundred shipped so I think you did pretty good.

I have a M3500 coming in a few weeks but these Brownings look nice, wish I would've read about this before I sent Buds the check. ;)
