Got the chance to buy three old shotguns today for what I hope was a steal. This is where I need your help. The first is a LeFever nitro special sxs in 16 ga, s/n 1789xx that I would grade around 65%. The second is a Triumph .410 single shot, s/n E975xx that probably grades about 60%. Last but not least a Diamond arms co. 16ga single shot, this one I am unable to read the s/n, but would probably grade around 45-50%. Any ideas on date of manufacture and value would be greatly appreciated. Thanks THR

Both the Diamond and Triumph are inexpensive " Trade Name " shotguns made for sale in certain hardware chains. The Diamond Arms may be a Stevens or both could be Crescents. In the condition stated the value would be less than a hundred dollars each ( more like 50$ ea ). The LeFever might make the buy worth while but with out pictures, don't know. The LeFever Arms Co. made high quality firearms and even in poor condition is worth the 300.

Unfortunately at this time I do not have a camera to post pictures. I bought all three for 200 and they are all shooters so I'm pretty happy with the deal. I had almost forgotten how much I like the 16 ga's. Thanks for your input.

Until they have been thoroughly checked by a knowledgeable gunsmith, you cannot say for sure that they are all shooters - they might be usafe for one reason or another; get them checked first

I would also share a concern the LaFever may date back to the days of short (2.5 inch) chambers. There is some collector interest in the LaFever, perhaps ranking behind Ithaca but well less than Fox, Parker, L.C. Smith.
