I've wanted a 2.5" model 19 for a very long time. My trusty 2.5" 66 has been good to me, but I really wanted it's blue brother. A fellow on another forum was kind enough to pass the caretaker role of this beautiful sample to me. Paid $400 plus shipping. Not a steal, but very well worth the money! No locks, forged parts (no MIM), no MSG (oooops!), firing pin on the hammer, where it belongs, beautiful deep blue polish. Guns like this just ain't made anymore... how could I resist?

The grips are a pair of Ahrends round butt grips that I decided to modify and refinish. I've come to like Ahrends round butt grips with finger grooves the best for fit to my hand and feel. They allow me to get my pinky fully on the bottom of the grip, something which my Spegel Boots don't allow, and they fill the hand beautifully. My one gripe about these Ahrends, however, is that they're finished in a thick urethane finish which surely protects the grips well, but doesn't do the beautiful exotic cocobolo much justice.

So one by one I've been refinishing them with a hand rubbed Teak oil finish. This particular pair I decided to modify to a flat bottom, leaving the space for the pinky, but then cutting straight back to the rear edge of the frame for maximum concealability. I'm really happy with how they came out.

I'll have to post my mod-19 2.5 pictures later. Mine is refinished matte black with hogue grip, Trijicon front sight polished hammer and trigger, action job and all around dead sexy. Paid $350 out the door in 99% condition and paid a couple hundred for the refinish, sight, dovetail cutting, and other stuff. Joseph's Gun Shop in New Britain, CT did all my work like usual (GREAT GUYS TO DEAL WITH!!!) Its a great shooter and matches my Custom 1911 Commander. Pictures to come later today.

You really make me miss my 2.5" 19. I stupidly sold it years ago when I was in 1911 mode. When I decide to get another, couldn't find it, so I got a 66 instead. I'll probably run across one soon.

Here are some pictures of my baby. Mod 19 2.5" also.

Its just a basic black matte bead blasted finish. it holds up great. My 1911 commander has the same finish and it doesn't show too much. Both were originally deep blued. I just like the more practical finishes even though blued guns are gorgeous (i.e. Kimber Superamerica .22 rifle).

FPrice... oh NO.... I think one of me is probably more than enough for the world to cope with! My grilfriend would probably agree! ;)

Thanks for appreciating the guns and the photos... makes my day! :D

I have some more goodies to post in days to come.
