Hello;

I just picked up a Model 36-1, 3 inch, RB! It is my first J frame and it seems to be in great condition!

Haven't had a chance to take it out yet...the SA seems very nice but DA is very heavy. I will shoot it a bit before I change anything...Any advise on how to lighten up DA and retain reliability?

Can anybody help me with a DOB? Serial # J913xxx?

Thanks again!!

Enjoy your 36-1! :)

I find mine to be a wonderful carry piece. The old fellows used to tell me that the 3" tube carries as easily as a 2" (and, except for pocket carry, they're right), is easier to hit with than a 2" (because of the longer sighting plane), and hits harder than a 2" (because a .38 really appreciates that extra inch of barrel length to help it get its legs under it). With the seasoning of years, I've come to appreciate their advice, and I now own 2 of the 3" J-frames.

Personally, I don't mess with the DA pulls on my carry revolvers. I recall that master triggersmith Teddy Jacobson has posted about trigger work on J-frames, and I believe he discourages it. Since he knows about such things, I feel I'm on good ground on this one.

Here's a link to Teddy's blog: http://www.actionsbyt.blogspot.com/
You can probably find his J-frame commentary in the past issues, or you can just email him and ask his advice. He's semi-retired right now, so he probably wouldn't offer to do it himself, but he would certainly point you in the right direction. :) Best of luck with it (although I wouldn't mess with the trigger pull).

Thanks!
