I currently own several firearms but no shotguns. After doing some research I'm looking to buy either a Saiga 12 or a Mossberg 930. Any opinions on either? Any feedback would be appreciated. The shotgun would be primarily for HD. Any other suggestions on similar (auto-loaders) shotguns would also be great. Thanks.

With all due respect, please do not rule out the pump. Not to say that there are not some fine autos out there, because there are. Leave your options open, friend.

You couldn't have picked two shotguns that were more diametrically opposed...

I would suggest the 930 Security / Field combo, it is a much more vesitile shotgun, extremely reliable and lots of accesories, should you choose that route.

The Saiga, at least up here in CT, will be much more expensive. The Saiga is a purpose built shotgun, They are a lot of fun to shoot for 3 gun and other tactical / practical shooting game, the detachable magazine automatically puts you into the unlimited catagory and usually the toughest... They aren't the greatest shotguns for trap, or other clay targets as they don't "swing" well...
