Okay, so I've been shopping for a pistol for USPSA (Production) for quite a while... couple months, it seems. Been back and forth, but usually coming down to just these few...
  • Walther P99
  • Glock 17/34
  • Springfield XD
  • Perhaps a Kimber or some other 1911 (eh, I'd go limited if I could afford a Kimber :))
Today I went out and picked one up. I ended up with an XD-9 that I got for $349. It was used, only one mag, no box or accessories, but the price was right (for my area) and they gave me a box, lock, and ordered me a mag at cost.

The gun is in *very* good shape. I field-stripped it at the shop along with a NIB one, and compared. Very difficult to see any heavy use, though it was fairly dirty.

The only thing now is, I have this buyer's remorse. Ever since I started looking I really, *really* wanted a P99, but I couldn't resist anymore today and I had the money in my pocket... but only enough for the XD.

I'm going to go shoot it a bit in the next few days, and maybe I won't worry about it.

Congrats!

Now you can do what the rest of us do...drool over some OTHER handgun and save until you can buy that one. :)

I know that feeling well. As soon as I buy a new gun I start saving for my next one.

I think you'll be quite happy with the Croatian Sensation once you go out and make some noise with it. Mine is accurate and reliable and that's what it's all about. Go browse around at HS-2000 XD talk and absorb some enthusiasm.

I really like the whole XD line and I don't think that you will be disapointed. If you want 15 round mags you can get the XD40 mags and they feed with no issues (at least in my guns). Good luck and good shooting.

HA! wow...are you sure you aren't me? :D I've been lusting over the P99 for a while now, however I didn't wait to get it as my first handgun. However, lately I'm having second thoughts...thinking maybe a 1911 (in .45 ACP, or maybe ::gasp!:: 9mm)...arnivolvo has made me consider the Steyr M9, and the local gunshop guy even has me giving thoughts to the Glock 19...but then i came to my senses about that one.

anyway, for now i'm just working on building up a stash of ammo to feed the guns i'm working on getting.
