I just found out our local trap/skeet range no longer allows barrels less than 26", even if you're an LEO. My friend has a 500 Persuader that is awesome to shoot wobble with, now it's not 'legal'.
No question about it, Dave. Some of the clay fraternity look down upon short barrelled guns as reflecting poorly on their sport. I've encountered them when I've shot skeet with my 14" 870.Ergo they have an agenda which seems to be aimed at short barrelled shotguns.
Our club is very loose, nobody around here shoots anything with like a pistol grip or w/e but its not like theres rules against them, they're just not trap guns.
I can understand rules like that as it could become a safety or equipment damage issue if some yahoo tries shooting from the hip and starts hitting the house. The only restriction we have is that all shooting must be done from the shoulder
There are some Silly Little Tribesmen where I shoot but they are in the minority. Most often when I bring out the 14" I get lots of requests to try it out. The regulars really like the Federal Gold Medal target load because of the very prominent muzzle flash when shooting under the lights.Paul, there's way too many "Silly Little Tribesmen" out there IMO. But t'were I to break out one of Corriea's Saiga shorties at a meeting of the Geezers, most of them would line up to try it out. A good bunch.
