I've always thought that way too, except for the possible exception of rifles from CMP. It would be nice to know their history, good and bad....

I would agree with that with the caveat being since they were in my posession.

Having a somewhat well used C&R FFL will bring many well used rifles to your door. Still, they were used by troops who were told that it was ok to do so by their .gov. The rifles didn't get into trouble & then run away - well, perhaps the French ones .
