This beauty was given to me to hold. My friend won't tell me where he got it or what he paid for it but he did say that the best M-1s were some of the the last ones made. I wouldn't know My knowledge of Garand's is limited....I just know I love them.

Sorry the pics aren't better. I'm no photographer.

The stock is flawless, almost perfect. There only two, almost indistinguishable pressure dents in the wood. The metal is flawless, with the only finish wear being barely noticeable on the top of the left locking lug, probably coming from the proof and function testing.

I would love to pull it apart and photograph the insides but I promised my friend I would move anything. It's not my rifle, after all.

Alas....all I can do is drool on it.

for a time it was easier to find nice condition HR rifles because they were all post war. Separately, they were also among the more well finished M1s if not the best.

Very cool.

The Beretta M1s, though rare, are also often found in excellent condition as they were made to peacetime standards and saw little usage.

My H&R looks better than my Springfield but it is younger also. They both shoot well and bring smiles to faces each time they are brought out.
