First of all I will say I understand about the Ruger only data and what guns its intended for...This has probably been asked before but I was only curious? I just purchased a 45 Colt Ruger New Vaquero. I absolutely love this gun. I have been shooting the proper low pressure loads and the gun shoots great with Trailboss and Unique and that will probably never change.
My question is;
Does anyone here have any experience or tested loads on the top end for the New Vaquero? say over 1000fps with a 250 cast bullet? Though down sized from the Old Vaquero,the little Ruger New Vaquero seems it could handle a warmer loads possibly over the old 45 pressure limit.These loads would probably shoot high of the sights, anyway I was thinking on a hunting load for this mighty handy little gun.

Hunt480,

I would suggest you use the same limitations that I use for my S&W 25-5: 23k psi, which is what .45 ACP +P is rated at. With 250 - 270gr SWC's, my favorite load is 18.0gr of 2400, which will put you at 1000+ fps velocity-wise and is my deer hunting load. Other loads I have used with the same bullets and can recommend are: 13.0gr HS-6 and 21.0gr of 4227. As you noted, these loads will shoot high, but that didn't stop me from taking my deer last year with the .45 Colt.
