I've been using NuFinish in my media to clean brass. The last couple of batches I noticed weren't quite as "shiny" as usual. It was clean but not just as shiny. Saturday while doing "Honey-Do" chores I took the shower doors down and cleaned them. Thought I'd just give them a coat of Nu-Finish. As soon as I put it on the rag I noticed it didn't look right. I'd gotten the Fast Orange hand cleaner crossed up with the Nu-Finish. LOL. The bottles are almost identical!

Nu-Finish

I also use the Nu-Finish added to my crushed walnut vibratory media. I use it for final polish of all my loaded pistol and revolver ammo ( yes, loaded ammo).

Although I use it, I've always wondered just how effective the Nu-Finish actually is considering it is mixed with a media that is slightly abrasive as used for cleaning.

My reloads look far better than most factory ammo. I've had fellow shooters ask why I dump my new factory ammo out of factory boxes into a Zip-Loc freezer bag stored inside an ammo can I use for bulk ammo. Its not factory ammo, its reloads.

Using Orange hand cleaner is an option I have not tried yet = I will let you own that process.

You can also add a little bit of generic paint thinner (aka mineral spirits) to liven up the polish in your media.

Some misssteakez are easy to fix...some are not..!!!:)
Glad you didn't do it the other way around??
Does that fast orange have the cleaning grit in it?

Sounds familiar. Other night at work, I sanitized a garbage can as I usually do with hospital disinfectant and noticed it smelled different, more like piney than the citrus smell it usually has. Looked at the can and it was dust-mop spray.......:banghead:

Hey, this might not be gun related... but it sure is "thread related"... Oh, I'll make it gun related with this question first: Does Nu-Finish work better than the additive polishes from Dillon or Hornady?

Here's the tip: I use Rain-X on lots of glass OTHER than windshields. It is fantastic on glass skylights and some external windows. They stay cleaner longer and there's no green slime growing at the edges of the skylights either (that's a big thing here in the N.W.) I use Rain-X on all the exterior glass of vehicles other than the windshield too, for the same reasons. The mirrors especially - they stay much cleaner. Maybe it would be good on glass shower doors - stands to reason it might be.

All reloaders should learn to read all labels on products they use! Mistakes can be fatal!

Never tried the Dillon or Hornady but I cant see how they could do much better. Probably some similar ingredients in all of them, maybe?

I use Nu Finish and Turtle Wax. Jake from RMR mentioned the other day that they use Turtle Wax for their bullets.

Isn't pumice a form of sand? I thought sand (silica) was a strict no no for reloading dies. jmtcw, Catpop

"...clean but not just as shiny..." Brass only needs to be clean. Any of those polishing products leave a film on the cases.
"...Isn't pumice a form of sand..." Yep. Volcanic rock, as I recall.

I use Nu-Finish because it works and I can get it local like Walmart/ChinaMart or the Auto Parts House...!!:)
Plus, did I say it works...?
I never used anything else...sorry.

Ps...Before I started using it, I cleaned several spare 30-06 brass and hung it up in an open outbuilding for a few months. Everything looked good. Then I forgot about it and noticed it about a year later. Still shiny and looked good to go...!!
It's here somewhere with the original date on it.
What more can I say?
