Sooo.. I decided to sell all my paintball stuff and save up for a new gun. I have my AR and a few other Rifles so i wanted to step out of the Rifle Box and jump into the world of Pistols!

On Sunday 4 Days ago i walking into Sportsmans and Walked out with a huge smile and a New Springfield XD 40! I have been studying up on it and how to maintain it cleaning wise and Finally got to go blast a couple hundred rounds out of it! WOW What a Beautiful and Flawless gun!!

First shot out of the box was Dead Center mass on the target, next few shots where grouped right on top and next to it! I was so surprised at the accuracy and low recoil this gun has! I have shot my Dad's S&W 9mm Sigma series and it doesn't even come close to the feel of this beautiful gun.

I am just so excited to talk about it to anyone who is a XD lover as well! If there is anything people recommend upgrading or doing to it... Please feel free to respond! It doesn't have a match grade trigger or barrel but, I'm 100% fine with how it shot today. I might throw some Trijicon night sights on it or something next!

Thanks!

My name is Brian and I'm an XD lover!

I have shot several XD's including the xd40 sub compact. Those pistols are the most reliable, safest, beginner autoloader on the market and well underpriced in my opinion.

I have several pistols and the xd series are up there with my favorites.

You done good!

Now, we want pics!! :)

I'm deffinately a fan...I came from shooting 1911's and GLOCK's ....I took a slightly used XD9 4" to the range so I could dog how much better my GLOCK's where to it to my buds that where ranting about how good their new XD's where...I shot 200 rounds through it and took it back to the shop and bought it! That was years ago...now it's my wifes primary HG...I have another XD9 4" in stainless (had to be different-LOL) They have both shot like a house on fire from day one...I had to get a higher rear sight for my newer one...they sent it free and drifted it to match where the rear site was on my older one...dead on ever since...I carry it daily and trust it with my life and the life of my favorite person with one...so yup...I likes em ;)

Congratulations on your purchase on the XD. I have the 9mm full frame and have chosed it to be my favorite gun. I will bet my life on it. I am looking into purchasing an XD45 compact for carry.

Congrats! I have the XD40 SC and really liked it until I installed a Springer Precision trigger kit... now I LOVE it!

Get yourself a good holster for it and you'll love it that much more.

congrats on the xd, i have a service model .40 that i have had for years, over 17,000rds and it is still running strong. i am glad that you like it. i will tell you though the trigger is ok out of the box, after about 1k through it, it will sart to smooth out alot.

I personally don't use match triggers on anything. if i do shoot comps it is an idpa here or there, my guns are tools and there purpose for me is a defense tool, and i do not use match sights, triggers etc. I did at first have a set of trijicon night sights on the xd and they worked great, but i am a hige fan of xs big dot night sights for defense, and that is what rides on my 2 defensive handguns. be advised though that changing the sights on the xd is a chore, SA themselves put the trijcons on, and the xs sights were put on by my local gunsmith, before i left the gun with him i asked if had ever done sights on an xd because I have heard the horror stories, and he had done them before. i got my gun back the next day(he was very busy) and i couldn't be happier.

also i did change the recoil spring and guide rod, there is only one reason that i did that, factory ones were unavaliabe, and putting as many rounds through handguns as i do, i want the abitlity to service my guns myself. I installed a don's guide rod, with wolff springs and i have been running the set up like that since the 3000rd mark, (approx14,000rds and 3 handgun training courses) without an issue.

Congrats, welcome to the XD family!

I still have 2 of the 4 XDs that I have owned (9mm Service & .40 Sub Compact).

They are awsome guns. Extremely accurate and dependable.

I have to warn you, The XD is like Lays Potatoe Chips, you can't have just one!
:)

Thanks everyone! I have gone to the range a couple times now with the new 40 :D :D It has been a blessing so far! Have about 350 rounds through it and, the way everyone is ranting and raving about them, there will be many many many more to come!

I have heard the stories about changing the sights out. So if i do decide to throw a nice set on it, i will be sure to have a smith do it (i don't have the right tools for the job)

And speaking about the guide rod... has anyone used or know any one who has used the LaserMax guide-rod laser? Im intrigued by it. Not too sure how it works or functions but if anyone knows about it... Spill it out!

Thanks people! NOW... I have to go give my AR15 some loving! Its feeling neglected! LOL
