On Saturday I picked up what I've long considered to be my dream shotgun at Bass pro: a Beretta Xtrema2 w/ KO in Max 4! I've been lusting after one of these since the original xtrema1 came out and now I've finally got one to call my own. I think I did alright on the price too, it was on sale for $100 off, and then I got another 10% off for applying for one of their credit cards. So it was about $1,260 plus tax out the door. I also got an aluminum double long gun case for free with any long gun purchase.

I've heard that with some of these big 3.5" supermags you need to run a couple of boxes of 3" or 3.5" loads before it will cycle well with light field loads. Have any of y'all found this to be true with your xtremas? I'm hoping to go pattern it on Friday and shoot some clays with it to see how she runs before dove season starts. Should I plan to bring some heavier loads with me for break in? Anything else I need to know?

Thanks!

When i got my extrema2, the first thing I fed it was the bottom feeder birdshot you get at Wally. Ate 200 rounds of that stuff the first day without issue.

Did about 10 rounds of 2 3/4" buckshot at the end of the day after the bird shot. It was a few months before I even tried 3" stuff, and a year and a half before I tried 3.5" stuff (holy crap that stuff is like touching off arty).

In my experience, there's nothing an Extrema can't cycle properly.
