I'm just finishing up my winter reloading push. (Inlaws visiting over christmas so I'm hiding in my reloading room) Everytime I finish loading up a batch for a given caliber I log it so I can look back over how much ammo I've loaded (and shot) over the last 12 months. It occurred to me that I shot alot less .45 ACP this year than last but still did pretty well and I added a bunch of new calibers. Anyway, in thinking back I realized that over the last 12 months I had accomplished 3 things (shooting related) that I had been wanting to do for a long time:

1. Took up bullet casting.
2. Got CMP Qualified and ordered a Garand
3. Went deer hunting for the first time since I was a pre-teen.

I've decided that next year I'm going to try to cross a couple of other things off of my list. I think I'm going to try to:

1. Take either a pistol or carbine course. (Ideally one from Clint Smith)
2. Shoot in some Garand matches (and maybe an M1 Carbine match)
3. Get my daughter to shoot in some form of practical pistol competition.

What were your goals for the last year and what are you hoping to do over the next year?

Have a good one,
Dave

Just got myself a .22 bolt action rifle and my parents got me a range membership for Christmas. I'm going to look into some basic rifle courses and really try to work on the rifleman thing.

That and the standard "lose weight and exercise"

I need to get to the range more often. That and get the custom 1911 I want built.

I also for some unknown reason want a .45-70. I don't even know if hunting with a rifle is legal in MD.

If I get those two items built/bought I will be happy.

Gun related resolutions would include:
attend a IDPA event,
buy more rifles,
buy more handguns,
maintain at least 10,000 rnds .22,
obtain and maintain 5,000 rnds 9mm,
keep on keeping on with my other stockpiles,
buy and learn to use reloading equipment for the calibers I have,
take a handgun course,
keep exposing my girl to fun times with guns, she's really responding!

Ah..well. My main resolution is to pay down some debt before adding to the firearm collection!!!!

Should be do-able in time for me to either get my first 1911 or snubbie in time for a Christmas present to myself! :D

Other than that - more practice.

Start "rolling my own". Reloading ammo. :)
Drink more coffee.
Eat more beef
Give more to the NRA
Buy a pistol with a rail on it.

take a good pistol class this summer- hopefully 2

shoot enough hi-power matches to get a ranking- i missed it the last two years by a match i think. (i shoot it 2x a week, but not all are matches, just club practice)

try and bring another person into the shooting sports.

become a state trooper, become a member at a local range, shoot lots and lots, finish my .45ACP reloads, got 5 or 6 hundred left.

Leran how to use the Dillon XL 650 i got for christmas...i'll be hanging out in the reloading forum...A LOT

Form 4 and complete transfer of MP5, 2 SBR and 1 supressor before 2009.

Start shooting agian(two year+ drought)

1) Switch one rifle out and complete my collection.
2) Stockpile more ammo
3) Start daughter on BB gun
4) Walk the fields more
5) Move into a place so I can reload, after graduating

My resolutions that pertain to shooting are to shoot a lot more and get better at it, and get a CCW permit.

My others are to lose some weight, get in better shape, and get more orgainized. Also finish up a CD I've been working on for a while. I'm a musician by trade.

My resolution is to buy no firearms this year, just ammo and reloading components.

My slightly paranoid side says that will be how they come at us depending on the outcome of the election in November; No new gun bans but much tightening of ammo importation, higher taxes, other restrictions on ammo availability rather than the guns themselves.

I need to learn to control the DAO trigger.better.
I want to shoot more and get better at 200 yards...the family gave me a Garand for Christmas so I have a reason to go to the range more.
I will reload all brass for my guns...emrty brass is depressing.

If I cover those four I'll be in high cotten. (the 200 yds counts double for me)

Mark.

My new year resolutions?

- Vote in the caucus. It comes REAL early in Iowa.
- Vote in the election. It may not be for who I want but at least it would be against those most likely to take my rights away.

Any other gun related things depends on how finances and Heller turn out.

If Heller is decided in our favor I might just have to keep that ball rolling and speak up around here for some of our rights back. If it turns out bad for us I might just keep my mouth shut for a while and see what follows from that.

If my finances do well I might just buy myself something suitable for deer hunting. I'm leaning towards a handgun but I'm not counting out a bow or slug gun just yet. Part of my choice of weapon will depend on Heller since the hand gun rules around here might be shaken up a bit over that.

Start a new shooting sport

Or renew an old one if its already been done.

It works like this a cross between cross country running and shooting. Run say 100 yards shoot a set of targets and run some more to the next stage. Oh also the usual stuff loose weight spend less and most important of all live till next year if I can

I am going to vote only for people who support the Second Amendment. 08 is an election year and that is my resolution for the year.

Spend at least two weeks in professional training.
Join the USPSA and finally get classified.

My beautiful bride has agreed to give martial arts a chance and will be joining me at a local dojo. Over the past few years, I think I have had a positive affect on her views of self awareness and self defense. Our resolution is to do things like this together and learn while staying fit.

:D She has also started to seriously consider getting her CHL training!! :D

I have to be much less gung ho though than my initial attempts to get her interested. Unfortunately, I approached almost everything 'bass ackwards' a while back. It's just something that cannot be forced. I'm mad at myself for trying to force my likes and will on her. She is incredibly intelligent and can make these decisions herself (by the way, she's not even in the room right now so don't think I'm saying this for my benefit). Fortunately the damage was not permanent and I did read The Cornered Cat SEVERAL times which I wish I had known about beforehand.

As of now, I am hoping for more range time this year, and looking forward to finally CC'ing my 1911 in my new Milt Sparks IWB Executives Companion (South Paw) I ordered back in July. They called me on Dec.28th and informed me it was on its way! :)
