New York AR-15 laws

So i recently purchases a bushmaster and wanted to buy a collapsable stock when a friend of mine told me it was illegal in New York (that being that I don't have any special licenses or FFL...). So fellow THR residents whom are aware of the screwy/S!@t gun laws in New York, what do you tell me? Thanks everyone.

If you want an AR-15 with collapsible stock, it has to have been manufactured prior to September 13, 1994. NYS has a mirror of the old federal assault weapons ban. You must purchase a "pre-ban" gun if you want such features. Or, you could move across the border to Pennsylvania.
