As many of us New Yorkers know, the past election day results did not go well in regards to the support the 2nd amendment will get in the future. I am certain that many new restrictions will be placed on us, especially with regards to military style rifles, semi autos, and non-ffl transfers.

Is anyone here interested in conducting a meet to have a legal "gun swap"? This would enable a group of us to legally trade, buy and sell privately owned rifles & shotguns, without the need to fill out 4473 forms, or any other types of registration. The possibilities this allows us in the future to avoid nonconstitutional registration and confiscation schemes could be quite beneficial. Even very similiar guns could be swapped, with the bonuses of monetary perks for differences in condition, desirabilty etc.

Anyone in NY, especially the Ulster/Orange area, interested in this idea, please PM me.

BTW, NY state doubled sentences for carrying loaded unlicensed handguns to 3 1/2 years , last year. I don't think that will have too much effect on the stupid kids and drug dealers in the 'hood ! They also want to have a gun buy back here in Sullivan Co !

I guess I don't see the point?
It's the shell game. Breaks the paper trail. "Watch the hands, watch the hands, where is the gun now?"

I'm not knowledgeable of the legalities of private transfer in NY state, but it could be a dangerous game if you aren't careful. Take great pains to verify the buyer is trustworthy and not a felon.

Of course, if registration becomes fact, then hiding a gun from govt. thugs would be illegal too.

The procedure was quite clear.

I don't see the point.

Whether you still have the gun you bought from the dealer or a different one you bought from a friend. . . "I sold all my guns and don't own any now." means the same thing.

When they come looking for my XM, I can honestly say I sold it. Don't need a receipt, don't need to know the guy's name even. I see your point though...If they ask a general "do you own" question? ahhh - then I guess we take our chances based on our own fortitude. WOuld rather they don't come looking for something specific they have NO idea I own though.

Also, could be a fun way of changing or altering a collection w/o having to lose money going through dealers.

And such transactions are perfectly legal, for now, as long as the seller knows of no legal reason why the buyer can not possess a long arm.

Invite Bloomberg--I hear he likes buying guns.

Seriously, and I can't speak for NY, this kind of sale in my state (IL) requires that detailed records be kept by the seller for 10 years and turned over to a LEO on simple request. An FFL holder might have issues with this also----maybe. Once again, depends on state law ,too.

This is what all the libs believe a gun show is anyway--one big no records kept or questions asked free for all.

It is a novel idea, but I would find it a bit too risky and pointless.
A lot easier to simply disobey the unjust unconstitutional law if it ever comes to that.
